There's a website called "Think Beyond The Label (http://www.thinkbeyondthelabel.com/)". It's dedicated to encouraging employers to look at handicapped people as viable candidates for employment.
When I first saw the ad, before I knew it was geared towards the handicapped, I immediately thought this was a campaign to encourage people to look at the person, and not their presentation. I thought how great that would be for trans people. It's certainly something many of us have hoped for, most of us, throughout our lives.
"See me as a person and not a thing."
While I highly doubt this particular organization would include LGBT persons, it would seem this kind of message would benefit us if we chose to adopt it.

So do I. There's more to us than just our presentation.

It's a great message to send but so many people refuse to accept it. Too many societies encourage judging by appearance but those same societies will tell you "Don't judge a book by its cover." ???

@ Julie Marie:
So true. Now that I'm about to go full-time and that hormone replacement therapy is really kicking in for me, I'm planning on writing and speaking about these very issues and addressing college and corporate audiences. Some T-girls are already doing this. Andrea James and Calpernia Addams come readily to mind. I intend to address these issues from a different perspective than they do. People WILL come around, but it takes education and exposure ... like our gay sisters and brothers have been doing for decades now.
@ Gennee:
Darned right, girl! Agree 100%. Thanks for your comment ... really appreciate the sentiment. :D Hey, Gennee, you on the Links Staff now? Congrats!!! You working with Janet Lynn? Watch out ... that girl will work you silly! ;)
