Today I had a very powerful experience. I've been in the hospital in first an in patient and then out patient for depression and suicidal ideation. Today was my last day. So I decided to take the leap and out myself as transgender to a group of patients that I had become very close too. There was about 30 of them in the room and everyone accepted me as a guy. The response was so much better than I could possibly have hoped. There was a lot of crying, embracing, and accepting. I was so moved by everyone and it was exactly what I needed. They said they were moved by me as well and it was so good to see that I had a positive effect on people. Sadly this the last I will see of them. We are not allowed to contact each other outside of the hospital for security reasons. Which is one of the reasons I felt safe enough to do it. I am so so glad that I did. It was amazing, really amazing and a balm for my wounded heart.
My religious relatives have really been letting me down recently. My cousin who I have always been very close too just took me off her facebook page and said that she might consider talking to me in a years time. My Mother is an awful manipulative person who keeps talking about this 'thing' that took me over. As if I was possessed by something unspeakably evil. My Aunt wrote me talking about how she 'knows' that I made this 'horrible choice' because of all the 'hurts' in my life. She's sorry about the hurts and wants to help. I haven't written her back. I have no clue what to say as she has already rejected the truth.
One of the members of the support group from above gave me a plaque that she had. She was the only one I told before the group as I was closest to her. Any rate the plaque says:
The world makes way for the man who know where he is going - Emerson.
Both she and I thought that was absolutely perfect for where I am right now in my life.
I have another one that I love. By author unknown:
You have to dance like there is no one watching
Love like you've never been hurt
Sing like there is no one listening
And live like it's heaven on earth
That just reminds me that life is beautiful even with all the hurts that come with living. That we should dance and sing and love because that is exactly what we are here on this earth to do.
If you like you can post favourite sayings or quotes that moved you in some way and what they mean to you. I know I would enjoy seeing that. This is a very difficult journey but there is a lot of goodness still left to enjoy in this world.

Thank you for posting that.
I like Invictus.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley

:) Gotta pull the Dr.Seuss one out here because it just applies to us so well-
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
It got me through my first year of college. And I'm so happy that everyone reacted so well to you! That's so heart warming <3
Another I like was said by Homer.
Hateful to me as the gates of Hades is that man who hides one thing in his heart and speaks another.

A quote that has helped me through the years, by Eleanor Roosevelt, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Another more recent one that I like. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

My favourite quote can be found in my sig, and it's from the bible - not all Christians are bad, honest ;)
I put it in my sig after it jumped out at me while reading once. It's kept me going ever since :)

It was nice for Clint Eastwood to use that poem (Invictus) semi-rescue it, it had been pretty much reduced to being Timothy McVeigh's last words before he was executed and it deserved slightly better than that.
Myself I've always felt that the lyrics of Robert Hunter (Jerry Garcia's lyric writer) were about the most truth rock ever had to offer outside of Dylan. The two verses that follow are from a song about the failed concert at Altamont. The first one has always told me that saving up and collecting a lot of money is kinda dumb, but so is saving up and collecting anything. The second, well I've always liked the bit about if the horse don't pull you've got to carry the load. In other words, don't depend to much on other things to do your work.
Now I don't know but I been told
it's hard to run with the weight of gold
Other hand I heard it said
it's just as hard with the weight of lead
. . .
I don't know but I been told
if the horse don't pull you got to carry the load
I don't know whose back's that strong
Maybe find out before too long
This one, 'my verse' (it's the bridge actually) of all the Dead verses. First you have the entire deal about how real life does not work out like the songs, or the TV shows or movies or what have you. That being said, there is still a lot of stuff to learn and do, and sometimes its surprising where that inspiration or luck comes from.
I ain't often right
but I've never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
Once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right
Or any of the fine lines from Subterrarian Homesick Blues.
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weatherman
To know which way the wind blows
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift

Don't let the bastards grind you down - Illegitimi non carborundum (not actual Latin).
-anon
You tell the truth and go to the guillotine, you lose your head but your conscience is clean. Don't buy into no-one else's dream; say what you mean and say it mean!
-Foetus, song Ramrod
Yeah, these are my inspirational quotes. They are more of a "get up, dammit, and give the bastards something to remember ya with before you go down!" kind of quotes. They made me realize that if I drowned myself, my horrible classmates would "win", and just going to school when they were there was an act of defiance, it showed that I didn't let them get to my heart. For the record, they had told me that I was a cancer of society, that I contributed to the degeneration of the human race and that I needed to die for humanity to go on.
