Title: I got my hair dyed...and straightened
Post by: Samantha_Peterson on October 28, 2010, 09:10:59 PM
Personally, I think I look great with this hairstyle. Now I need to invest in a straightener.

And, you're cute. I've often looked at your avitar and wondered what you really look like.

Flat Irons are the only way to go for straightening.  Chemical straighteners are to harsh on the hair.

Looks good Samantha.

There are chemical straighteners that African-Americans use on their hair.  It will strip you hair badly.

Just so you know... flat irons damage you hair quite a bit as well, but not as much as chemical straightening techniques. If you are going to flat iron your hair make sure you put some product in it ahead of time to minimize the damage caused by the heat.

My personal favorite is Moroccan Oil.

I don't even have a straightener yet, my friend just thought it would be interesting to see me with straight hair. I'm definitely investing in one now though XD I'll look into heat protectant too.

I'd let you borrow my straightener, but I'm a girly boy and I would be upset if I didn't have it. XD That, and I don't know you.

Anyway, your hair looks good. (: Straightening it would definitely make it look better.

I have used chemical straighteners during the past 6 years. Every 6 months. Hairdresses used to tell me that it is indeed damaging to my hairs, but they try to minimize the deterimental effect. For example, applying it only to newly grown hairs.  Prices of straightener vary greatly, and expensive ones are usually less damaging.

What I noticed is that my hairs become very thin, and hairdressers reply that it is what straightening means. I also worried about hair loss, but I am not quite sure wheter it was due to my aging or applying chemicals.

Anyway now it is time to straighen my hair again, as 6 months has passed.

And now.... my hairs are tangled and need to look tidy.

Should I try flat irons instead of chemicals?

Thanks for the compliments everyone, and barbie? I'd suggest flat irons. You may have to use them more often than chemical straighteners but I think it is less damaging to your hair.

OK. I will try flat irons. Oh, it is even less expensive than one time treatment of chemical streightening (here price ranges from $50 to $200). I guess flat irons cost < $100 here, but I am not quite sure. Even $200 is more economic.

You can also use flat irons again and again.

What are "silk" semipermanent treatments?
