Title: Gap Year
Post by: Megan on November 01, 2010, 11:34:37 AM
I was thinking of taking a gap year between high school (i'm a senior and 18) and college, since I barely have any money to afford the tuition and I want to get residency in California. I also want to get a job and save some money to afford college there.

Overall it'll be a lot cheaper, and less stress than going straight to college. And I have to get out of this state. I plan on going to medical school currently, so I won't be done till like 28 (i'll turn 28 that summer of the end of medical school if i take a gap year). Then add the residency on top of that.

But my mother was like, "no you can't", and I was like "it's better". I ended the conversation after that.

Should I just tell my mother I am going to do what I have to do???
It's a really hard situation with everything with my mother lol.

Many take a break after high school.  It allows the person to really decide on their future.

Some people think that it is better to continue on while their are into that frame of mind.

Is the gap year still a good idea with the economy and job market the way it is and it will be for the future?
using the gap year to work parttime in your chosen field might look good one a resume and make a good impression.
