Just curious, because I heard packers can be uncomfortable. Are they necessary? What about when you go swimming? Is it any different? Do you stil have to wear one?

No, its personal preference.

Not absolutely necessary - but not necessarily uncomfortable, either. I find I'm far more comfortable with my packer than without; without it, my pants are forever trying to crawl up my crotch and cut off my invisible nuts. The packer...well, I guess it kind of takes the place of my invisible nuts.

I don't personally wear a packer myself. I also don't believe they're necessary and are really a personal preference.
The only reason I don't wear one is because I have yet to get a harness of some sort to keep the bugger in place. That is my biggest issue. Otherwise I would wear it for similar reasons to Kyril. I hate the riding in the crotch. It's suffocating. :P

Like everyone else has said, not exactly necessary. But I know for my build and the style of clothing I wear, you would be able to tell I don't have anything downstairs if I was to go without. I don't necessarily like wearing them but it's a necessarily evil for me and I would feel naked if I left the house without one. I also like to get boxer briefs that have 'pockets' (so to speak) that are meant for bio guys to put their junk in to appear to have more of a bulge and put the little packy in there so it's not flush against my skin or moving around too much which can be bothersome.

Its necessary for ME, but for everyone else, no its personal preference. I don't usually wear one while I'm swimming just because somehow it ends up flipping or sitting weird and making me uncomfortable, but other than that I always have use a packer.

For me I absolutely need one. It's crucial for my dysphoria. I don't find them uncomfortable and feel naked and wrong not wearing one. However everyone's different and some guys don't like to wear a packer. It's all your preference.

So, would it look very weird if I didn't wear one in public or would most people still think I'm a bio male?

No, you do not need a packer. Use a packer only if lower dysphoria bugs you. I wore my packer 24/7 until I left for surgery, then ceremoniously tossed it into the trash.
Nobody is going to think anything; they shouldn't be looking at your crotch!! Secondly, post op I have no appreciable package. Stealing Jamie-O's statement: I'm hung like a housecat. I no longer pack and don't worry about my lack of bulge.
So, it's really up to you.
I *might* consider packing should I ever need to wear a speedo or something. But at my age that is highly unlikely!
