Title: N00blet here
Post by: Charliebear on November 05, 2010, 11:23:25 PM
Hahah... Hi, everyone. I've been lurking here for a while, so I thought it might just be wise to join up, and I can't sleep, so.

I'm a seventeen-year-old genetic female with a disgustingly long, feminine given name(with a hyphen, so I'm cursed with no one EVER spelling it correctly for legal documents), preferring to refer to myself(mentally only at the moment) as Charles or Charlie. Just seems most suitable. I always felt pretty awkward trying to be girly, and in fact usually looked(and look) like a drag queen in dresses/makeup, and definitely not in a good way - more of a comical kind in a cartoon or something, I don't know. I can't pass as a girl very well in my opinion, even though I am one. xD Still never really occurred to me to try something else until last summer, when I started wearing some more manly clothes and was just like, '...Hey, I like this.'
Since then, I pretty much only feel completely normal being as guy-ish as possible. I feel more comfortable as such than I ever did before, which I think is a definite good thing, even if I haven't been doing this long. I don't feel like it's something that's about to change.
Haven't told anyone yet, though my best friend knows and one other friend probably has a pretty good idea. I live with my father and asked him recently if he could potentially not introduce me to everyone as his 'daughter', and he flipped out for a while, doesn't want me to 'hurt myself' or anything with surgeries. I essentially did this: o____O

What else.. I got my first binder almost a week ago, and it feels sooo nice. Was only a a B, but I'm 5'1" and skinny, so it looked and felt very uncomfortable. Been gravitating more toward girls for a while now, just because they're so gosh-darned cute. xP
So.. That's me in a nutshell. Just wanted to say hi and see if anyone had any tips  for someone just starting out. I've been exercising my arms so they're less like twigs, and plan to try out some of the exercises I've seen posted here. Anything for helping deepen voice/walk/general anything would be appreciated. Thanks, everyone, for all the help you've given me in my lurking thus far. ^^ I think this place will be a great help in the future.

Hi Charlie, I like Charlie better.

Welcome to Susan's. It sounds like you have your head on straight. Glad to see that!!! There are allot of ftm hear on Susan's they are all very smart and kind as it sounds like you are. Though I am mtf we do share some commonalities, "girls", impractically the one I have been married to for 28 years. And yes just so "gosh-darned cute"

Welcome to the forum Charlie  :icon_wave:

As far as advice I wish I could help. What little info I have is that there are some youtube videos on how to deepen your voice. I've never done them though because I heard they can damage your vocal cords so I'd rather wait until I can get on Testosterone which has been a four year wait but I will be getting my letter for it soon. As for the walk I suggest hanging out at a mall or other crowded area and casually observing male behavior. It sounds weird, I know, but it's what worked for me.

Do you have an interest on getting on Testosterone eventually or getting top surgery? You don't have to if it's not what you want, it's all a personal choice, I'm just curious because I noticed you said your father said you shouldn't.
