After triumphant tours in Europe, Robert Lepage's acclaimed Eonnagata is coming to Ottawa and Toronto.
Onnagata is a kabuki term describing men who portray women on stage. Chevalier d'Eon was an 18th-century French spy and ->-bleeped-<-. Hence, Eonnagata, an exploration inspired by the outrageous life of d'Eon.
Along with Canada's visionary man of theatre Lepage, the show also stars collaborators Russell Maliphant and Sylvie Guillem, the former prima ballerina assoluta of the Paris Opera Ballet and principal guest artist of the Royal Ballet. She now collaborates on contemporary dance projects as an associate artist of London's Sadler's Wells Theatre.
