Title: today in class
Post by: Michael Joseph on November 18, 2010, 01:46:38 AM
This girl in my class called me over and she nicely said "hey would you rather be called a boy or girl?" I responded by saying boy and giving her a little info on being TG. She said that the whole semester she thought I was a dude and last class the professor called my birth name, and that it made get really confused. She was really respectful, and used the right pronouns and everything. I just thought that was really cool of her, and it made me happy to know I was passing to strangers, until they heard my very female name lol.

Btw, Im not out on my campus. I do try to pass, but my professors all know me by my female name.

That's pretty cool. I wish people would ask me that question more often so I don't have to shove it in their face. :P

Not that I do that or anything...

Ya I actually liked for once being asked what I wanted to be callled rather than either people trying to figure out what i am or intentionally calling me a girl because they refuse to look at me as a boy. Last night at work, i came out to one of the last people there that i havent come out to yet. Ive woked with all of them for years, so they know me as a girl. Anyway she responded pretty negatively, she was like but your a girl, your way more of a girl than a boy. Then one of the guys i work with butted in and goes are you kidding me? Look at her, theres not one female thing about her, maybe her name, but once shes done transitioning, youll see too. Maybe he got the pronouns wrong, but hes got it right!

Great news!  Hope it gave you an emotional high!

I floundered when someone asked me at work a couple months ago and said it didn't matter ... I am further along now and would like answer male ... but hey you did it!  I envy your strength!

That's pretty great, yo.  My name can give me away too.  I haven't had a person confront me about it though.  But she sounds pretty nice.

That's great man :) It's awesome that you had the courage to tell her and about the person at work, she'll be the one looking dumb when you start hormones (if you do) & pass entirely if she's still calling you female.

I feel ya man, my name still outs me too. Called the electric company today & the guy called me sir until I had to tell him my name. Stupid legal female names :(

I don't think I would ask, I would feel like it was putting you on the spot, and fear you thought I was rude. Also I would feel ignorant and embarrassed. I am glad you posted this nice experience it has educated me. It is all about becoming informed and sharing information.  :) Thanks.
