Title: Almost came out to my mom...

Yesterday, had a huge argument with my mom... after that we had a heart to heart conversation in her/my dad's car... only place I can really talk to her without my brother (moved away temporarily) and dad interfering... during the conversation she asked me what was troubling me and why I hated my life... and I nearly cried then and there ... I just could not tell her how I felt that I wanted to be a woman! no matter how much I wanted to... that there are days where I felt like taking a knife and ripping my own skin out... and days where I just could not stop crying or feeling depressed... :embarrassed: :'(
luckily/unluckily I reached the place where I needed to get off and that was the end of the convo... :-\
sorry folks ... just needed to let that off...

Do you think you can ever tell her Vibes?
How do you anticipate her reaction?

I really dont know... I really love my mom a lot ... but she has never been the predictable sort.. on one hand she can be incredibly kind and caring on the other hand she can also be incredibly stubborn and strict.. she will not hesistate to taunt me in the middle of the night and one of my earliest memories as a kid was that she threatened to set me on fire with a newspaper if I didnt study (she nearly did!!!) and then once when she felt I might not pass the national exam in a couple of subjects she begged one of local teachers (she was very reluctant upto the point my mother spoke to her as it was mid-year) to coach me and if it were not for her I would not have passed ...
I just dont know both she and the rest of my family (brother and dad) have always been there for me ... I just dont know how they will react to it... :'( :'( :'( :-\

I discovered my mother's view on this issue through her video library. I don't know if you can schedule a movie night, but it's a very sneaky way to bring up the subject and everyone will be too preoccupied with keeping up with the story to notice they are being assessed...
Find a movie or television show with elements of gender-bending, comment on it casually, gauge their reaction.

Another way you might guage your mom's possibl response is by letting her see a video on the computer, of a successful post op trandgendered person.
This one is produced by the UK NHS. It is particularly good and positive. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Gender-dysphoria/Pages/Introduction.aspx (http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Gender-dysphoria/Pages/Introduction.aspx)
It can be played on full screen.
I just hope you can access it in your country. If not, I'll try to find some others.
I'm thinking, when she is in the same room as you, you can put it on the computer and ask her to watch it for her opinions.
