Hi, everyone!
My name is Alex and I'm new here. I stumbled upon this website while doing some research on Dr. Kamol Pansritum's handiwork as a surgeon.
I'm going under the knife in December 2010 and it's been quite an emotional ride for me (not minding the end result, just not excited about the post-op experience). I guess it's part of the transition.
I've been living in stealth for a while now, and my friends and family have been super supportive. I started my transition in college and it's been more than 10 years now. While it hasn't been an easy life, I think my experiences as a TG has also given me character and strength and has taught me to be more compassionate about the plight of other people, LGBT or not.
I look forward to becoming an active member of the community and meeting other men and women here!

Hi Alex
Glad to hear you are travelling so well. I think you will find many friends here. We are an International family, sort of the United Nations of TG. But this one works .
Probably because it's run by a woman (sorry guys).
Anyhow I'm Cindy from a warm and humid Adelaide, South Australia.

Thank you, Cindy. We are indeed an international family. And it feels good that I can feel the positive energy of the members here. It's great!
I've heard of so many things about Adelaide (city of churches). While personally, I do not think of myself as religious, I would love to visit the architecture there. Not to mention the wineries!
I do look forward to meeting people here. Hope this message finds you well.
Hugs,
Alex

Hi, Annette!
That's right. And boy, do I feel nervous! I think the excitement part will come after the swelling has subsided and I can start wearing a bikini!
I am all for helping our sisters here. I do hope I can contribute in whatever way possible in "my family" here.
I would be needing a lot of prayers and good wishes from everyone. Am keeping my fingers crossed (and legs wide open) for my quick recovery...
Regards,
Alex

Thanks, Michael Alexander!
I really hope everything goes well with my surgery. I am a bit nervous, mostly about the recovery period.
Also, since I've been off the hormones (3 weeks now), I feel so strange about my body. My partner, who had been a bit apprehensive about the whole surgery thing (like me, anxious about the recovery part, not the "end result"), finally said to me, "At least this will make you feel right, on many levels".
So there...
I hope I can start blogging from my bed. I heard it sucks when you're just in bed for 6 days and you almost cannot move because of the catheter. :-\ We'll see...
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Hi Alex
No sweety, i didn't go in the US for my surgeon.
I'm a dutch girl so I went to Amsterdam gender center.
But from what I read on the forum most doctors in the western world are using the same standards of procedures.
For my expirience, the pain is not to bad, the recovery is quite fast and the life after it is great.
Of course I was a bit frighting and excetid those days but for me the surgeon was the most easy part of transition.
The hardest part was the uncertainty with therapists and the emotional rollercoaster during pre-op from HRT.
So you allready did the hatdest part, life can only be bettter for you now.
Never the less, tell us all your expiriences in hospital, we are with you to support you.
keep yourselve tough and everything will be OK in a while.
a big kiss on both cheeks

Just a quick hello to everyone to say, I'm alive! Recovering well after my SRS with Dr. Kamol!
Will write more soon. Hopefully, no more spambot notice keeping me from posting on the forums.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Thank you everyone for all the positive messages and the love. I am now back home and recovering well. It feels good to be home though am not very happy that it's really cold. And it might just get colder. :(
Like what I said, I had the non-skin inversion with groin skin graft with Dr. Kamol Pansritum. The recovery has been impressive. I am hoping that when the time comes for me to go back to work in January, the swelling would have gone down considerably.
If some of the ladies have any advice, I would really appreciate your stories/advice.
Again, thank you everyone for the beautiful messages!
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex
It's good to hear that you are doing well.
the only advice i can give you is take care of yourselve, take your time to recover, dillitate with the schedule you've received from your doctor.
I don't know what kind of work you do, so i don't know or it will be burdensome for your recovery.
but anyway, welcome to the post op's , the last step is taken.
recover well hon
hugs

I'm still on leave so am able to follow my twice-a-day dilation, one hour each...
But I might change it to three 40-minute sessions when I return to work in two weeks... Yes, the dilation is going to be a big issue in my schedule, unfortunately... :(
