Title: Did HRT turn you into a screamer?
Post by: Melody Maia on November 27, 2010, 03:23:54 PM
On holiday with the family at Disney World. Just got off a coaster and realized that a large percentage of the ladies were screaming on the ride. That got me wondering if you ladies who have been on HRT awhile found yourself more inclined to scream or react more emotionally to scary things than you did before HRT?

What? Did you think I meant something else? ; ) Well, you can comment on that too I suppose. They may actually be related.

Short answer, yes. I react more emotionally to everything.

Longer answer, I don't credit it entirely to the HRT. Just transitioning and coming out more helped me to be more of myself and more comfortable. I don't mind so much if I look "gay", and especially since I'm full time, I fit right in.

I think so.  I've always done an excited type of scream on roller coasters, and I haven't gone on a roller coaster since I began hormones, but I've been reacting to lesser scares lately.

What's far more noticeable, though, is in the last several months I've turned into a weird little ball of emotions.  The most random things can set me off crying - like today, I cried for 5 minutes after taking my old vacuum cleaner out to replace it with the one I bought yesterday.  It works completely fine, so I just couldn't throw it away.  Just the thought of throwing it away set me off.  This lovely old appliance is going to Goodwill so that hopefully someone else can use it and appreciate it :)

Women are more emotional and the estrogen does help that .  I remember back, when I was on Estrogen that it did help me be more emotional and cry more.  I was ALWAYS non-male (female) in terms of emotions.  I almost always found myself crying when I get really into a film and it warrants it.  I remember when Spock died in the Wrath of Kahn and many chick-flicks.  I cannot ride roller coasters, as they make me sick, but I cannot even comprehend that I would be like that.

All that being said, I see women, okay younger than me, when I go out to eat and they act really different than me,  much more carefree and emotional.  I feel envious of them  Much of the difference is just that they were brought up as girls with no real issues and I have a zillion of them and still struggle.  One has to be happy to be carefree.  One also has to have more friends than I do, especially girl friends.  That is also not my personality.  We shall see.

I definitely am much happier as a girl than as a male.

When I first read the title of this thread, I was not thinking roller coasters but in bed having an orgasm.  I was never a screamer, still am not, but then I did not transition.  I would be really interested to know if transitioning changes one from being non-screamers to screamers.

Do men scream, by the way, or only women?

What is the percentage that M2F go from non-screaming to screaming?  Anyone know the stats?

I can feel my emotions a lot more and much more deeply than before, and by extension, I cry a lot more.

One thing's for sure; I'm still extremely level-headed when it comes to screaming out of fear, and I avoid it, because to me it feels overly dramatic for no good reason. Also, I tend to be very blasé about riding roller coasters, and doing things that are generally avoided by many for fear of the unknown. Also, these fears are never as bad as my dysphoria, so I find it easier to just enjoy, rather than work myself up over something so insignificant. Then again, I'm intensely logical about confronting my fears. (I actually felt like a total a**h*le writing this entire section.)

Screaming in bed? I can't give an answer, other than I'm very silent. I can imagine that I would be more vocal with a partner.

I've become more of a yelper rather than a screamer.  If something surprises me I yelp.  I never did that before.  It was an interesting development as I proceeded on HRT.

And on the other thing... I moan...

Not been on any rollercoasters lately so can't say but I've always been way too emotionaly expressive for a guy.

The bedroom thingy is odd as I have noticed a difference, but no screaming. I have gone from a grunter to a bit of a whimperer, with a bit of ooohhh! (that's new!) thrown into the bargain ;D

My emotions flow more easily since I have been transitioning. There was one time early one, about maybe a month and half, where I cried about EVERYTHING! Didn't matter what it was, I was crying. I sorta liked it, because sometimes, for me at least, it is a great relief to cry. I look back and laugh at it now, because was so ridiculous. I get more energized in emotional situations and if the situation calls for it I scream, its a lot of fun! I guess the short answer is yes, I do scream more if the situation calls for. I don't know about roller coasters though, I have never been a huge fan of them.

As for the in the bedroom, I never had sex before I went on the hormones. I am can get pretty loud now, but I have nothing really to compare it too ;D

I think it's more psychological than anything for me.

Well, if I went on a rollercoaster, I'd be screaming, but not in the positive way, and I had that problem before HRT. Those infernal machines scare the hell out of me.

On the other hand, as I've transitioned, I can say that my fear of heights, snakes, and spiders have all increased.

As for in bed, well, I've gone from complete silence and fairly calm breathing to moaning, breathing heavily, and whimpering. So maybe it does have an effect there, too. >.>

not what I thought the topic would be about

Yes. I am MUCH more prone to squeeling, screeming and general sqeeeing noises when I am excited or frightened.

I am more of a squeaker, than a screamer.   I have not had the pleasure of the bedroom test, but I think I would be a screamer with claws and nails.

I have something to admit. I do moan a bit sometimes...No, wait, this is not what you think! You know those head massagers with the wires (I can't find a better way to describe it), well, when someone uses one on my head, it's the best feeling, and it makes me moan/gasp a bit. I have to find pleasure in areas other than sexual contact because of the dysphoric dimension to it. I can imagine I won't be so silent in bed when all is said and done.

Ooooooh...

As for the question, I'm not on HRT yet, but I've always found it nearly impossible to hide my emotions, so when (if?) HRT amps my emotions up, there will be sounds.

Interesting!

HRT has made everything more intense ... very much so.  Highs are really high.  Lows are really low.  Screaming and squealing?  No, not me.  Laughing?  Like a damned fool ... hilariously so often times ... which I love to do.  Amazingly, HRT hasn't changed everything.  I still love that down 'n dirty rock 'n roll.  Still rock out with The Stones and the like and still play a mean air guitar!    8)

The bedroom thing?  Ain't had nuthin' even remotely like that since HRT.  No prospects either.  Perchance, should that happenstance ever befall me, I will react in my characteristically quiet fashion, but oh, will I react!   :D   Good Lord Almight, will I react!    ::)   ( ... sigh! ... )

I was a screamer before starting on HRT, but now enjoy things a bit more especially with someone I emotionally connect with.
