Title: Lazer hair removal
Post by: ameliat on November 28, 2010, 11:19:34 PM
Hi,
I am just looking for some input into your experience.
Did laser hair removal work for you on your body?
How about on your face and neck?
I am in my 50s and had red hair when I was younger and now it has turned more brown with white side walls on the head!  :o

My beard is mostly white now...
Thanks for  your input.
Amelia

if it is white, then laser will not work.  You are stuck with electrolysis Like I am.

You can see my skin type and hair color.  I had laser originally, quite a few times.  I got to the point that I had mostly white hair, which the laser did not take away.  I did not even realize that I had white beard hair.  Sadly, the laser was not permanent, just temporary reduction.  I switched to electrology originally to take away the white hair.  I did not care for the topical with the laser.  I then noticed that my hair kept coming and coming.  We are finally nearing the end, sadly after 4 years come this February that I know my electrologist.  My electrologist told me that each client that took a long time to get rid of facial hair all had laser first.  I do not know if that is true or just my beard is more stubborn than most peoples'.  Either way, it seems that there is no shortcut or painless cheap way.

I am having electrology done on my body too, just it is slow going.  My chest looks much better these days, as you can see. :-)  That nears the end thankfully.  My back is a bit more stubborn.  I am looking forward to my arms and cannot wait to get to my legs.  I have no desire to be the only woman in the United States and Europe with hairy legs.

I did not read that last line.  Laser can work on a white beard, but you have to put a couple of times a day a special dye for a long period of time.  I never did get that to work with my white beard.  Sadly, laser does not seem to work over the long haul.  The FDA only cleared laser as a "temporary reduction" or some phrasing like that, not permanent hair removal.  From what I read, it clears the hair for about two years.  The problem is that the hair comes back in finer form, which makes it harder and more resistant to electrology.

You are stuck with electrology.  It is not that bad.  I enjoy my sessions.
