Ok for those who dont know Hollyoaks is a soap aimed at teens and one of the people on the show is a girl called Jasmine who wants to be a boy called Jason. The story so far has been great and has dealt with issues such as being bullied by a girl who knows his secret and having to deal with his familys reaction. Finally tonight he cut his hair and came downstairs in boys clothing and announced to his family that hes a transguy. The story has really helped me and it makes me feel proud to be a transguy. Anyway here are a few clips.
This clip Jason shows himself to his sister for the first time

This storyline is what got me watching Hollyoaks. So far I think they've done a really good job considering that it's a soap so has to be a little over dramtic. I also like that they made him gay because alot of people seem to think we transition to be straight so hopefully it will change a few people minds.

I don't watch soaps and hav never seen Hollyoaks.
But watching those clips, I feel quite emotional. That boy has more guts than I have.
The way this event is being played out and especially the performance of that young actor is quite remarkable.

Never heard of the show but he seems the story line seems a lot like Adam's story line in Degrassi I'll have to check it out :)

I hadn't heard of the show until someone posted about this on here earlier. I tried to find it but couldn't, so thanks for posting the clips! That second one was painful to watch though.

It has just started to be shown on TV here, so it will probably be a while before this episode is shown. Looks like they have beaten 'Neighbours' and 'Home and Away' to the subject.

Never watched the show before so didn't know what it was. For a low-budget teens' programme I have to admire the way that it sensitively protrays the issue of ->-bleeped-<-. 5/5 for that! And of course it's great to see that it's from the point of view of an FTM.
Damn, those videos wre painful to watch. Brings to mind so many horrible and painful memories of feeling trapped as a teen at home.

I just caught up with Hollyoaks. I was never a massive fan but have been watching this storyline since it started back in August (and mostly only this storyline while I scrub through the episodes on 4oD). I was initially really interested and excited to see what they would do with the subject but it seemed to take quite a while to get going, but I'm glad I kept checking on it and watching for glimpses.
Anyway, that gripe aside, I've found it particularly enthralling. I've liked the way Victoria Atkin portrayed the poor guy. Her acting got a bit more involved more recently I think as Jason came out to family and was frustrated at their reaction.
I have found it to be a little 'off' in parts though too and have to watch a few episodes then have a break because it tends to be slightly triggering (and irritating) how people treat him.
But still, pretty good. Hair looks pretty good too considering he did it in a fit of rage! Here's hoping things will improve for him in the future. He even gets to go to 'a clinic' in the new year. Even if the real reasons are yet to be made clear to him... Some people, eh?!
