Title: Hi!! SO to GypsyKaren
Post by: KrazyKat SO on December 29, 2006, 07:55:00 PM
It's been almost 2 years since my lifepartner, Karen told me of her secret identity. It's been a road of sharing and caring. Karen has decided that she must complete her journey, and I am coming to terms with everything. We have resolved most issues, but I'm sure I could use post op spouses support. I'm not looking forward to hormone changes(mood), the physical part is not that important to me. I have learned a lot about myself in this process, including, letting go of internal anger I never understood before all the new information I've processed.

I tend to be a middle brain person(androgyne), and I'm okay presenting in any fashion.

I love people, animals, dance music and hanging out!!

Hello Kat:

Welcome to Susan's.  My name is Gill and I am Steph's SO.  We have been married for 33 years.

This journey is bumpy (to say the least), but we end up knowing so much more about ourselves than we ever thought we would.  Through this we all need someone to; talk to, to unload, to vent, to cry and to laugh with, yes to laugh.  This will definitely be an emotional ride and isn't for the feint of heart.  You mention the letting of intenal anger, that is such an important step in all of this.  For me it's the missing of the old Steph that gets to me and the grief sometimes will really throw me.

Feel free to talk to us and/or to email me anytime.

I am really glad you found us.

Gill

Thanks so much, Gill, hope to talk with you soon.

I'm not feint at heart, but know that I'm going to need some help with everything. Laughing is my favorite form of medication!!

I've become very attached to this new person who is emerging before my eyes, the person I knew was always in there, behind those kind and caring eyes. I just didn't know this is how it would happen.

Thanks for your reply, helps a lot already.

Welcome to Susan's, Kat!

It's wonderful that you are being so supportive.  My spouse is still with me and partially supportive and I don't know how partial she'll turn out to be (she's again told me this evening that electrolysis is a no-no and that I'll be doing surgery alone if that's what I decide to do).

I hope I'll be reading more of your posts in the future, Kat.

Again,  WELCOME ! !  :)

I'm glad you joined us Kat.  There are several SO's who participate here.  It's the only place that I know of where this is the case.  I'm sure that you'll be able to get tons of support.  I know that it is a tough thing you are going through.  I admire you so much for your compassion and understanding.  You are one in a million doll!

Hi, Kat.  Welcome to the Brave New World.  I'm so glad to see more and more couples staying together.

I'm the wife of an FTM, but I'm also a postop MTF.  I see the clouds from both sides now, to quote a favorite old song.

Mood swings from the hormones?  If Karen isn't taking Progesterone with her estrogen, mood swings shouldn't be a problem.  Some preops react badly to progesterone.  My shrink wouldn't allow my endocrinologist to prescribe them preop.

Anyway, all this eventually becomes old hat and yesterday's news.  Life settles in to two people who have been in love quite awhile and who are comfortable together.

Oh, and Gill... how many quilts HAVE you made the past few years.

Huggzz.

Robyn
