Title: did someone go with you?
Post by: Rileyyy on December 23, 2010, 02:09:32 PM
i've decided that i want to have my top surgery with garramone in florida. i was trying to calculate everything when i realised i might have to factor in the costs of bringing someone with me - i remember hearing somewhere that most surgeons require that you have someone with you to help you?

it would be great if anyone could confirm this for me. also, if you had your surgery with garramone and went alone, how'd that work out for you?

thanks guys!

My mom and sister are going with me. I don't think you can go by yourself unless you stay in the hospital? I'm going to garramone too and know that it is an outpatient procedure but you can't drive because of the anesthetic.

Dr. Brownstein required someone to be there, not only the day of surgery, but the pre-op appt as well.  I went with my brother.  Which was embarrassing because they made him wait with me pre-op, and Dr. B came in and suddeny yanked open my gown to draw on my moobs in full view of my brother.  Um, we're not that close, thanks!!  So my brother was the last person to ever see my moobs (other than the surgical team lol).

If you don't have someone, occasionally you can find someone in the area who is willing to help out to meed that requirement, but you need to look around all of the forums to find out if there is someone who can do it.

When I initially thought I was going to be going by myself (I went to Brownstein) his office recommended a local recovery place. It was not a hospital, just a sort of suite meant for cosmetic surgery patients where the staff tends to you and brings you food, and they also will pick you up after surgery.

I ended up having friends with me for my surgery, but it was interesting to learn that there were other options.

I don't know if he requires it but after seeing my friend post surgery I would suggest it. He was in pain lifting things more than 5 lbs. Might not be the same for you, I don't have experience so I don't know for sure.

I figured there would be other options for those who had to go solo, but of course there is a charge for that as well.
