Hand Span: The distance from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger on your outstretched hand.

It's 5" but you didn't include that as an option. I have little tiny girl hands. I've always been told that since I was a little girl...err, boy...errr, j/k. It's 8", actually like 8" and a little less than another quarter inch, like 8.20." Are you trying to find a correlation between my um....you know...and my hand size? GASP!

Nope. :) I used to think um ... you know ... had a correlation to hand span, because it was true in my case. However, I do not care about um ... you know's size anymore because boys will be boys no matter how big they are. :)
I was reading about bone growth in childhood, and I was just curious about our hand span. I am told that I have beautiful hands, with long thin fingers, but sometimes I feel like I have giant hands to be a girl. My hand span is also just over 8 inches. However, based on these stats http://www.statcrunch.com/grabimageforreport.php?reportid=5152&image_id=374661 (http://www.statcrunch.com/grabimageforreport.php?reportid=5152&image_id=374661) and http://www.statcrunch.com/grabimageforreport.php?reportid=5152&image_id=374662 (http://www.statcrunch.com/grabimageforreport.php?reportid=5152&image_id=374662) my hands are just above the average for a female and I should not feel too bad. :)

Imperial is dead; the scientific world works with metric, get with the program!
(It's 8 inches - I had to use my dilator to measure since I can't find a measuring tape)

BTW, I hate my short, stubby hands, especially my nail beds. Acrylics DO NOT want to stay on my fingers when I get them. My hands are average-sized but I wish the nail beds were a little wider/bigger or something. and why don't I get those little half-moon thingies on my nails like other normal mortals :( I feel like i'm missing out! Everyone else I know has those!

Around 9 in, but I have really tiny wrists for my height (size?), so I'll take what I can get.

Somewhere between 8 and 9 inches, depending on how I hold my hand (8 inches if I try to emulate the position of the hand in the picture in the first post, 9 if I stretch them out as far as they go).

I found that it was very subjective ... like E, if I let me hand rest like in the picture, it was 8", but if I stretched out (my hands are extremely flexible from painting and piano) I can extend them to 9" ... I guess the proper position would be at rest, since scientifically that would reduce the delta for posture changes and developmental inconsistencies. I'm 5'10".

8.5" relaxed, 9" with effort to overcome the webbing. I reckon my hand span has increased over time getting to those intervals on the piano. I have piano hands.

Little over 8 inches or a medium glove size (since I plan on buying a motorcycle for daily transport once I escape from minnesocold).
edit: ugh, glove I like is available in whole sizes only so they'll be a 9 X)
edit 2: oh that measurement, 7.75 inches

No, you lay your hand palm-down, fingers spread. measure thumb-tip to pinky-tip straight across.

8 on my strumming/plucking hand, 7.5 on my fretting hand, at 5' 11" I've always had tiny hands, but years of playing the bass kinda stretched the left one out a bit!

Nearly 6 inches for mine when really really stretched out. It's also a bit of a misnomer to my hand size since my thumbs are long for my overall hand size. I did used to use my hands to measure since they had the 1/2' marker
