Title: The Transition Has Begun.
Post by: zoeinmotion on January 02, 2011, 03:07:56 AM
Ello, Ello, Everyone!

The start of a New Year, the start of my new life. I had just came out to my mom this past week with heart warming results for me. So far we have been bonding in a way I had only dreamed of which has quite possibly been the highest point of my life so far. I'm giddy :D

Today I had mentioned to her after dinner that I was thinking of shaving my beard off, which I've had sense it wanted to start growing 4-5 years ago (1/4 my life). When I started growing it I weighed 100+ pounds more than I do now, it was a great way to hide my double chin LOL. She was very supportive of the idea, and even helped me shave it off. Well, I was in shock towards the end and for a good 20min after from the drastic difference. Not only do I no longer have a double chin, but I started to really see ME in my face.

Anyways I am now going to start growing my hair out again, which is going to take a good year before it can really be styled into anything I think would flattering to MY face. I'm also committed to only purchasing female clothing from now on. As far as I'm concerned MY life as Zoe is just beginning.

5 bucks says I wake up tomorrow with a smile on my face that I'm going to bed with :D

I think I smiled for a week straight after I made the move to transition - it's a heady and wonderful feeling.
Enjoy it and remember it when things are not so rosy.

Wow Zoe, I'm glad its going good for you!  I can only hope things will go this smoothly with me.  Like, everyone accepts me for who I am, the laser treatments go flawlessly, HRT rids me of any masculine features and gives me the correct body, I master my voice flawlessly, and have no problems legally changing my name!  Hey...a girl can dream can't she?  ;D

It feels empowering to stop lying to yourself and the world. And like vexing said, hold onto this feeling to remind you not to be down on teh bad days.

Thank you for all the kind words & advice

I'm going to my first transgender support group this Tuesday, really excited to meet other people in person that are going through the same thing. Also have an appointment with my doctor, to whom I am going to ask for help finally, which has me nervous.

Love posting here, really gives me a good way to process what's going on in my head by writing it down, thanks for listening to my babbling :D

Congratulations. From start to finish the journey is hard, you will have many personal barriers, and have to overcome them in order to succede.
Just stay strong Missy. :)
