Okay. So we'll try to make this quick.
I'm and MtF woman who will turn 20 here in April. I'm at a state school in the south though it's not as bad as you might think. I'm currently full time at school though I'm pre-HRT and electro. I'm working on all that. My parents aren't really happy about what I've chosen to do with myself. I came out to them nine months ago and we've had little talk of it since then. I'm hoping they'll open up eventually. It's all rather complicated. I'm sure there's more I could say but I'll leave it at that for now.

Heh I really admire you guys for having the patience to reply to everyone's introduction posts, even mine ;D.
Neways, this ain't about me but about you Natalie. Welcome and hope you find your place here. :) I've been here only a couple of days but the people here are very kind and open-minded (I guess that's natural ). Hope to see you more on the forums.

Hi Natalie! (pretty name)
I'm glad you found us!
Parents can take time... I'm sure they're slowly adjusting to the news at their own pace. Have you tried talking to them since the initial coming out? Do they just basically change the subject if you do?
Enjoy your stay... youll find all kinds of neat info, stories and people here... feel free to browse around and take a peek at the Site Rules (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,2.0.html) too.
Welcome again, and I can't wait to hear more of your story (if you want to share) :)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I found the site early this Christmas break and have been lurking to try and stay sane. I decided to join up now.
Kate, I've talked to my mom three or four times (especially this summer) but it doesn't usually get anywhere except keeping the subject stuck in her head. She treats me mostly like before which is way better than it could be but not like I want it. Usually when we talk about it we only get so far before one or the other of us or both ends up a bawling mess. I'm gonna try to talk to her again tonight since we'll be alone. Dad on the other hand said something once the day after I came out. He indicated that he wasn't in support but would keep paying for college and that has been it. He is pretending it's not there now.
Anything else about me I'm willing to share. I'm just so used to the whole story by now I don't know what's important. Ask anything.

Welcome Natalie! Your parents are in excellent shape considering your youth and that it has only been nine months. You are doing the right thing by keeping in contact with them and showing your love. Eventually, they will either accept it all or at least learn to deal with it in their own way. Some of us have been through much worse, so we all have immense shoulders to cry on if you have a need.
You do what you need to do.... keep love in your heart... know your goals... and my dear, don't forget the most important... love life and be happy.
Chind up!

It may seem easy enough in the beginning of exploration, but generrally there is a scuffle of some kind behind it all. You know best what is right for you, but stay prepared for people not welcoming you in their presense. It's a small world and the understanding people in it are even smaller. Watch your back and sides when You declair who you are publically.

Hang in there Natalie. It all works out sooner or later.
Just be strong and keep on getting good support. Trust me. Your parents will come around.

Hi Natalie,
And welcome to Susan's.
Are your parents paying for your schooling?
Yes it is very hard when love ones don't seem to accept you. I came out to my wife over a year ago and somedays it's seems like she is okay with it and others she won't even look me in the face. She has never seen me dress and has ask me not to infront of her.
So I do understand, please don't give up hope and give your parents more time. It is a real shock to them.
Glad to meet you.
:)

Welcome Natalie,
You have reached a great community. College is a great time to sort out life and who you are. Its also a great time to figure out your financial and career path. Parents are quite common against or want to ignore the TG issue. Its just one of the challenges to face. You know whats best for you though.
Enjoy the site now, out of the shadows of lurking and looking. There are many former lurkers here lol. Glad you decided to post.

Hi Natalie. I congratulate you on coming out to your parents..you have crossed a huge barrier & it's good..if I had done that back in the 50's they would have put me in a mental institution. Anyway welcome. Everyone we talk to is a help. Keep smiling, you won't get wrinkles. :D Jolene
