???Hi all
My name is Debra Ann Wyatt and I live in San Jose, CA. I have been living as Debra openly for almost 4 years. I came out 6/20/2007. On one of the post I have been reading they got it right. It is not courage (I get so tired of people telling me how brave I am) but fear and desperation. One night in June of '06 I sat up in bed and took 96 800 ml vicadin. When my daughter-in-law found me the next day she said that I was blue as a sumrth.
That was in Sacramento. 8) I was sent to the lock down ward at the VA hospital in Palo Alto, just 35 miles south of San Francisco. I haven't been back. As I sat down with Psychiatrist, I decided that the time had come now for no more lies. So I told her just why I wanted the pain to stop and why I had decided that death was a acceptable answer if it stoped the pain. It took about a week for me to want to live again.
It was still a year before I came out openly as Debra. It was a case of do or die. So I did what I had to do not because I was so brave, but because I was desperate to live. So now I live in San Jose and work at the VA hospital as a phone operator.
I look forward to my SRS and live the best I can. Life is better now because I don't feel like I am living a lie or telling any. Thsi is my life now and I like me now. :o

Welcome to Susan's!!! This is a good site. Many of the people here have kind advice, good listening ears, some are witty, some are very smart all are good and enjoyable to spend time with.
Glad you are feeling better about yourself. Self acceptance is difficult, being transgender makes it more so. We look forward to your posts. Thank you for your introduction.
Many hugs.
Mrs Erocse.

Welcome to Susan's, Debra!
We are glad to have you here, and I am glad to hear that you have come to such a comfortable place in your life. You deserve peace of mind.
Susan's is a great place to meet people who are overcoming similar obstacles along with finding the support you need in those situations. You have found your way into a family that is always armed with an arsenal of gentle words, funny anecdotes, and love; they are force to be reckoned with. ;)
I look forward to seeing more posts from you.
Hugs,
Jacquelyn

Welcome, Debra.
That was a close call. I'm glad you were at one of the VA hospitals that is trans-understanding and trans-supportive. Would that they were all like that.
Come see us in Chat.
