Hey, this is Melody. I need help from a mod. I screwed up my login. I tried changing my email, but I made a mistake in the address and now I can't get the verification email. That also means I can't login to fix it. Please contact me at xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com and I can provide whatever verification you might need. Help!

What's the problem exactly?

Ok, I just can't send a PM right now to anyone, which is what I would like to do. As far as I can see, if you accidentally change your email address to the wrong one, the system sends the verification to that wrong address. You then can't login back to the system to change it to the correct one, so I am stuck right now.

Sorry, I never usually use chat. Wasn't the first thing that occurred to me.

Well, it's still frowned upon to spam the site just to increase post count.
Where did you put in the wrong email? What's the other/usual username (assuming that's what you mean)?

Yes, ok, that's why I stopped and deleted the other posts. I was just desperate to be able to contact someone as I just moved to Florida, am all alone and Susan's is literally my lifeline right now. I emailed Susan's address last night, and haven't heard back yet and figure she is a busy lady. I apologize and promise never to do it again.

My userid is xxxxxx. I am Melody Maia (she of the "Moved to Orlando...now what?" thread below). If you modify your profile with a new email address (in this case I mistakenly changed it to xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com instead of xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com which actually is my address), the system logs you out and sends a verification email to your new address. You are supposed to click on the link in your new email to verify it and then you can login to the system. However, since I don't actually own xxxxxx@gmail.com (and yes, I did check if I could simply create that account in gmail and it is taken) I can never get the verification email. Without the verification email I can never log back into the system with my old userid to correct my email address as the system requires a verified account. So I am caught in a loop.

Log out.  I can change it for you but you will have to log out.  Once I get it change it, we can delete this one.

Melody, I got it fixed.  You can delete this one here.  And then use your Melody log on

I see the email has been corrected, so try logging in with your other user name.

Hey, just tohught I'd add that you might want to remove your email addresses or you're gonna come in for a ton of spam from Nigerian princes and the like. Just sayin'.

Good point Gil.  I removed the email address as the problem have been fixed.

Thanks Gil for looking out for me and Janet for patiently correcting my bonehead moves. Yes, I have been quite distracted. I hope that Maint. Req'd. light wasn't the beginning of a trend!
