Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hey, I figured I might as well finally introduce myself because I have been lurking around for over a week and nobody wants some creeper creeping around their forum. At least I wouldn't. I guess the main reason I haven't yet said something is that I am not really one for taking the time to type stuff. I'm generally a more face-to-face person, but unfortunately there aren't enough people around my humble abode who are into talking about things transgender. Which is rather unfortunate. Another thing is that you guys seem like really cool people and I like to make friends with people of the sort.

Anyways, my name is Henry. That's not my birth name, but it is the name that everybody who is not my family knows me by (even teachers/students in my school). I've been going by that name my entire high school life (I am a Junior), but it was only a few weeks back that I became aware of the term transgender and that IT IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE TO BECOME A BOY. Man, I am so excited. When I started researching this stuff my heart was running a marathon. I looked all over Youtube, researched most things Testosterone that I could find, and top surgeries... And I am so pumped. However, I honestly wish I could just wave a magic wand and have it be over and done with (as I am sure most everyone here wishes), but unfortunately it is not possible. What a bummer. I've started seeing a therapist, actually I've been seeing her for over a year for life in general problems but now specifically for gender stuff. It was a real coincidence that she happens to specialize in gender therapy. That's awesome.

I can't have a picture in my display yet so none of you know if I am a smelly hobo or a Mr. Clean sort of guy. But a short description of me would be chick that looks like a dude with a mohawk that likes to publicly display a love of Batman. And wear man-jeans, because by all definitions mentally I am a man. My interests include reading comics, drawing (I aspire to be a concept artist), weight-lifting, and Literature class. I really like drinking tea and coffee. My favorite band is Pink Floyd. Yadda yadda, other things that aren't really very important. I've told my dad about wanting to be a boy, and he's pretty cool with it. My parents are divorced and my mom is a nutjob, so I haven't told her yet. I dread the day!

I should probably stop now, otherwise I will end up ranting until the end of time. Once I get going it becomes easier to say stuff, ya know? Hope to interact with this board a lot because I've been learning a lot of information from it. Soaking it up like a sponge.

EDIT: OH RIGHT. Just so you know, I am pre-everything right now. Hopefully that changes.... eventually!

Hey Henry, welcome to the forums!
That's awesome that you already have a gender therapist all set up.  That'll make life a hell of a lot simpler.

I still remember the day I found out you can legally change genders.  Ah good times.

@ Lee Thanks, Lee! Glad to be here. And yeah, I was really surprised when I found out that my therapist specializes in people who are transgender. It is truly a stroke of magic that it worked out like that. I've read the stories of many people on here who were not as fortunate, and I hope in the future transgendered people are given much more recognition and hospitality as a whole, especially from our therapists!
