Title: I need some advice
Post by: morning_glory on January 10, 2007, 09:16:27 PM
Well... I am 20 yrs old, live in ultra conservative western MN, and just realized why I feel the way that i do. My family has disowned me, and I need help. Family has always been very important to me, as I lived on the streets for 6 yrs before being adopted. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and
*cheers* for Cindi!

Welcome morning_glory, I think you will find a lot of friendly faces here take heart, sometimes those parents just take a while to understand. Never give up on them, I think.

Welcome again (=

HUGS TO BOTH OF YOU!!! It's so uplifting to just be able to know that some one cares, I will be honest, earlier today I contemplated suicide, but I stopped when I read your replies, I would never actually commit suicide, due to my occupation as an Emergency Medical Technician, I have come to hold life in the highest respect. Thank you so so so sooooooooooooo Much for just letting me know that you care!!!!!!!

Morning Glory, I so feel for you!  The first thing to do is to make sure you are someplace safe (fulfill your biological needs first! water, food, shelter, etc.)

I know we're only words on a screen, but you have friends here. Lean on us. Anytime.

Other than that, you need to do what it is that will make you happy. Figure out some type of game plan and go with that. Perhaps you're family will come around, but that may take a long time.  Do what feels right for you, just take it all one baby step at a time. I know it's overwhelming, but you've got a good brain in your head and if you use it, I just know you'll figure something out!  You probably already have something figured out, don't you?  ;D

Let us know how you're doing, 'kay?

Challenge? Yes indeed, you are already looking at it the right way (=

*Hug* I am Proud of you (=

Never doubt though, challenge this may be and insurmountable it may seem it is quite manageable when taken a bit at a time.

  Ok; First things first.  I have transitioned over 12 years ago; i'm 57 now and studied about this since I was 12.  I transitioned (at work) when I was in my late 30's and did the whole 9 yards.  Name change;
liceanse change the whole thing ok.  I'm very happy now since then but your not talking to someone who had nothing to deal with while transitioning.  Quite the opposit; I lost my family; like you; was run over by a forklift at work besides all the other verbal name calling and other things I delt with.   There was a  lot more going on in my life too besides that.  I know it isn't easy doing this and only we know and understand why.  I live in a very "bigoted " city too.  So I know exactly what you feel including the pain ok.  What I can say is first don't live on someone elses terms and standards.  You know what you want live it. Shure you probably will lose your so-called friends and family like I did.  Ask yourself though; do they really care if they do that to you?  Do they?
Believe in yourself! you can do this.  Think things through; formulate a plan for transition.  the what I need to do from the first step to the next.  Read all you can about transitioning.  Have a positive outlook.  What I can tell you now is that I know things look bad but once you get by it the other side is so much better.  You get to turn the page on life and start a whole new identy to put anything in that book you want.  If you like lets talk on my e-mail at Salem305@aol.com I have helped many cross the bridge.  Hang in there  Cindy

Hello Cindy,

                       I was very confused by your post till I realized you were paralegal's SO.  You might want to open your own account and name to help with the confusion.
