Title: binder help
Post by: Michael Joseph on February 06, 2011, 10:20:13 AM
I am ordering my first real binder today. Im stuck between the underworks tri top and the les love boat jersey mesh velcro. Any suggestions would be great before I make my final purchase.

elijah has a post somewhere with pics of both. so you can have a look there. I believe he recommends the jersey mesh.

Ok cool thank you. just took a look at that and he seems to like that one a lot more. If anyone feels any different, let me know. Im not ordering it for a couple hours.

how large is your chest?

i'm thinking the underworks would be good for big chests but love boat for regular ones.
cos ive heard a lot of people swear by underworks but honestly i will not go back after this love boat one so i'm thinking chest size is a big factor.

Pretty large, if i can remember right from when I wore a bra it was a 36 D. So then maybe underworks would be better for me?

I'm just guessing about the large chest theory.
Maybe ask some of the large chested guys if they've had experience with the love boat binders. Or ask Elijah if the jersey mesh binder was ALL binder. Cos if only part of it is like mine then you'd probably want to skip it cos it won't compress a larger chest even enough.

I have both the tri-top and the love boat high strength velcro short binder, not the jersey mesh one. So I can't speak to that one. But as between the tri-top and the high strength love boat? I'd pick the love boat everytime. It is so much more comfortable.

The only trick, I think, is in the sizing. I size "true" to the tri-top Medium. I was listed as an XL in the love boat sizing table B, which is the one that covered the high strength binder (they have two sizing charts). I think the XL is probably a little big on me - I wish I had gotten the L. That said, it gets me as flat or flatter than the tri-top, while being more comfortable.

My chest, btw, is not small nor is it large (36B? or so). However, I am broad around my shoulders, which affects what sizes I wear, and it's another reason I like the love boat velcro system better.

I wanna throw my 2 cents in here.  I'm a bigger guy and the tri top doesn't work well for me.  I need to have the crew neck t-shirts.  I find that anything shorter rolls up on me.   >:(

If you're going to wear it every day and want to be comfortable, I'd do a loveboat.  If it helps, I'm a 34DD and wear a large (but could probably do a medium, haven't tried) in Size group A and a large (almost too small) in group B.   The velcro is divine.   The V-neck is my favorite; I don't like my high performance as much.

So true Xander! And thank you everyone for all your responses. I actually went with the tri top because I could do the over night shipping so Ill have it by tommorow. Im really excited. I guess if I dont like it I can always order the love boat one, people seem to agree its comfier. I cant wait for it to get here, im sick of the ace bandages and other home made binders Ive been using.

I just got a new tri top yesterday and I'm happy to report it is rocking my world.  ;D I'm finding it very comfy. I always wore the full T-shirt or A-shirt style ones. It does feel  a bit funny in that it does roll up as Chakka said, but I think that reminds me to suck my beer gut in, so it's all good!
