Seems there are varying opinions. The purpose of this thread is to gather as much valid information as possible so that we can make informed decisions..
A) What are the GRS surgeons (by name) are saying about douching.
B) Under what circumstances/timing should douching be done.
C) What mix could be used and its purpose. EG Betadine, salt, fresh water etc.

I dont know if it makes a difference, I had the sigmoid colon surgery.
My doctor, Dr. Pichot of Bangkok, had me cleaning the surgical site with cottonballs soaked in Betadine solution until the site was healed. It was to be done after I went to the bathroom as well.
I was to douche with a Red Ball Syringe with a diluted solution of Betadine and water. This was (if I gathered correctly) to be done daily. This I did with each morning shower.

Same as Pascale's. Went to Brassard as well. I continue to douche before bed with a little salt water to get the lube out and because I have a tiny piece of granulation tissue which is healing slowly

My surgeon's advice was to douche 'as necessary for personal hygiene'.
I don't do it very often because I find that I usually retain some water which works it's way out later on.

I'm a Bowers girl. Her nurse, who gave me the lessons on caring for my new vagina, told me that I should never have to douche if I remain healthy. I have remained healthy and have never douched. (And so far - 10 months - I have never had an infection in or around my vagina.)

14 yrs ago dr meltzer pdx douched like 3 times in first 6 months but never did it again. I have put things in there like finger or stents but it seemed to be better the less i did it but then i never had any other person touch me there. So if your letting other people potentially infect you then be careful.. especially during the first 5 yrs while the skin is changing due to being in a dark place whereas before it use to be on the outside and so the crystalization effect wouldn't happen when it was on outside but now its on inside so it can and will change..
