It's a simple one folks: what do you think about non-trans actors playing our roles?

I went for an audition over a week ago, and was quickly whisked oop North to the ITV studios for an audience with the show's directors. Turns out I was the only person from the casting call put forward, which therefore makes me the only trans person in the running for the role. The others being considered are professionals – and therefore cisgender. Apparently we don't have any trans actors in this country.

Or do we? Ok, we're a small group, but we've had a tradition of performance work as a means to navigate our way through a society that despises and eroticises us in equal measure. Surely we could muster up a few drama queens for the odd TV series?

Well I did apply for an acting role where they specifically requested a Pre-op transsexual (in transition) to play a part you made a previous story about it the auditions were in london and I thought "hey why the crap not it sounds like a laugh." so yeah I went up there and put my name down and they took a photo of me.

I've not heard back from them yet if my current application will be processed further *shrug* I wouldn't take offense to a cis-person getting the part assuming they were the superior actor or were the more appropriate look for the part. but I personallyneed a job after I graduate my degree.

My transsexuallity is a curse if I can find a way to use my curse to my advantage in life then woot.
