Transgender activists want to be treated like every other Nevadan under the law. They want the right to fair housing; they want to use public restrooms without mothers clutching their children in fear; and they want protection from being fired from their jobs because of how they look -- stuff most people take for granted.
With three bills affecting transgendered Nevadans winding through the Legislature, activists say 2011 could be the year for new protections in employment discrimination, housing and places of public accommodation, such as hotels, restaurants, casinos and public restrooms.
