Title: Let's Go London, Let's GO!
Post by: tekla on March 15, 2011, 12:58:58 PM
With 500 days until the London Olympics the promoters put up a countdown clock, it didn't work.  That's not a good omen.  How hard of a technology is a clock?

Of course, if only there were a famous clock located in London known for its timekeeping abilities... perhaps located high on a tower so that many people could see it.

The digital clock in central London which has been counting down to the 2012 Olympics has stopped, less than 24 hours after it started counting down.

Was it built by the people who put up the 'Wibbly-wobbly' Bridge for the Millenium celebrations, or should we look for a British Leyland badge on it ???? >:-)

It was built by Swatch, so that's just about perfect too --- looks great, runs for a short while then stops.

Seemingly it also  got damaged in the protest march on the weekend. This clock is going to have an interesting history, and only time will tell.

I find the whole london olympics kind of amusing, im foreign but live permanently in the uk(yes i do have permission for a change) and there are  a few brits comedians on the comedy store running a campaign with the slogan ...London olympics its a little bit crap"

I wonder if they awarded it to here to annoy the French for something, and the average brit seems to care little for it, maybe that will change but I look forward to the opening ceremony

Annoy the French, I like that idea (not for annoying them) but for the reason it was awarded. The UK seems to saying it is so stony broke that everything is up in the air but it is paying for the Olympics. I find it funny, but I'm not in the UK.
