Hey all. I have recently discovered this forum, and also I guess recently started my journey if you will (at the tender age of 32!). I'm kinda just into reading the forums at the moment and filling myself up with info, but thought I would put myself out there too. I changed my name at the beginning of last year and have recently been asked frequently whether I am transitioning, and it doesn't seem to be a surprise for anyone. I've always been a tomboy and frequently get stared at in women's bathrooms. I guess I'm comfortable in my body, but I'm finding that I'm getting more and more interested in the idea of identifying as other than female. I love being referred to as a boy and I am finding that I really identify with moira/max from the L word. I guess i don't really know where I'm at at this point, but I do have MANY questions that I hope you guys don't mind answering from time to time! Trans guys I know don't seem surprised at all about me changing my name and I guess their reactions have made me start looking at myself and trying to figure out what others see in me. Anyway, I'm not really sure where to go from here, but Hi, nice to meet y'all. :)

Welcome to Susan's Kia.
I'm glad that you've found the site and that it is what you have been looking for. I think that you will find that we have a growing FtM membership as it seems that each day new ones join. As you have discovered there is a ton of information to go through but if you need advice, have a question or just need to chat jump into the forums and I'm sure that you'll get responses.
Much of the information is in the Wiki, we also have a huge Links section, a live Chat area, and of course we have the forums. Participate where you can and be sure to read the Terms of Service that govern the site.
So relax Kia, you're among friends, and I'm sure that we'll chat later.

Dear Kade,
I looked at your picture and my gut reaction was "That poor ******* will never pass in a million years."
Of course, I was mistakenly thinking you were a male that wanted to be female. :) Ooops. No wonder you get stared at in bathrooms.
That satisfied smile on your face is unboubtedly male.

Wow, that is like the best thing anyone has ever said to me. Cheers! 8) I'm not sure about wanting to pass as male as yet- but the road is definately opening up for me in so many different ways, people coming into my life, information, and excellent sites like this finding me so I guess I'm on my way, even though I don't know where I'm gonna end up. I'm a high school teacher and the kids call me sir anyway, sometimes lovingly, sometimes as an insult (if only they knew) but passing as a male? I have no idea. Thanks for all your replies so far, it seems to be a supportive place to air questions! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. ;D
