I'm not really sure if this is allowed, but on Facebook, I deleted everyone. Thing is I really need some trans guys I can talk to on there, because this site doesn't really seem to have any options. So I was wondering if anyone who was on facebook, would like to add me, just because I guess I'm really looking for support right now, and it feels more personable that way. I apologize if it's against any rules to post something like this on here, so if it is, feel free to remove it. I just really only know one trans guy on my facebook, and this site doesn't allow me to do much, such as the profile or anything of the sort. So I guess what I'm saying if there is anyone out there who likes to talk, not just add people for numbers, it would be nice to have you on facebook, as someone to talk to.

I was thinking of making a thread like this, only with AIM/MSN instead of Facebook, because I've never actually talked one on one (outside of this forum) with another transguy and I would love to.

With that being said I would add you on Facebook but I don't use it  :-\

Yeah for me it would probably be preferable for either AIM or MSN. (more than willing to talk, though  ;D) I have a facebook, but I still have my old pictures on there of before I started transitioning. Its embarrassing- but I don't have the pictures saved on anything but facebook and I don't really want to lose the memories.

This makes me want to clean it up a bit, though.  :icon_shakefist:

Same, my facebook is centered around someone I was trying to be, so I prefer to not use it.  People are welcome to msn/aim me if they want, though.  I always like to chat.

Hey this is a really cool idea :)

One of the main reasons I was looking for a site like this was to make friend for support.   I don't have a facebook, though.  I just don't like putting pictures up.  Maybe once I completely transition and am proud of myself.  I do use AIM all the time, though.

Gosh, I am so supporting this too. I guess sometimes, all we need is more support, and people with the same kind of views and thinking. I'm 18, & i haven't underwent any kind of treatment (sadly). Yeah, I'm not openly trans on my facebook either, for those who add me. I have a zillion people on my fb who know though, who knew me before I became stealth, and although I try to keep it on the down low....people talk amongst themselves and I'm really not sure who knows and who doesn't. But I don't mention it on there, anymore.

I forgot to say that I was openly trans on facebook and everything is just out there because at this point I don't care who knows what... Though I'm thinking of taking down the 'girl' pics since there are only a few.

i just added a new guy to my fb and i almost added a few others, i think most of you that posted theirs on the first page of this thread, but it came to me for all i know these guys could be in high school or something, and though it may look like I'm a teenager, I'm not. lol. it might look a bit odd for me to be adding teenage guys there since there'd be quite the age difference. maybe I'm worrying too much what other people would think? no wait, there's a few trans guys there that are in they're 30's and one who's a parent of a teenager so nevermind i guess lol.

I don't think it's really a big deal to have teenage friends on Facebook. Nobody really pays that close of attention anyway.

I am interested in adding people but I live full-time in a new city so many people on my Facebook do not know I am trans and I would like to keep it that way. Though I would like to connect with other trans people since I feel that they are the only ones worth coming out to.

As some of the others have stated, nobody on facebook (except for a few very good friends) have no idea I am FtM.  I would like to keep it that way also.  I don't use my name or real images here because anybody can see the post and even use google to locate me if they got lucky. 

Would love to have anybody who wants to friend me message me.  I don't talk about any trans or FTM things, just about life, sports and other everyday things, so those who like to keep their privacy, no worries, I am the same way.  I even play farmville because some days I am just that bored.

Just a note that anyone can add me without fear. I don't slip up or talk about trans things, even when its about me :) Just random every day stuff like my brand new puppy.

Very true, Karen. That's one of the reasons 99.9% of my status updates are made up of completely random things of little to no consequence.

People should also be reminded that people in your professional life can also find and read things if they're friends with you on there and/or your privacy settings don't prevent that. This applies to potential employers as well. So it's not outside the realm of possibility for things on Facebook and such to affect your work life.

Not sure if anyone posted this but there is a way to restrict on FB who is able to see or reply to things on your page even if you are friends. By creating friends lists and then using that to filter access (similar to Google+'s friends circles).

I'm rarely on it, but thats because I have 9 friends... yes I look like a freak in my photo but its so no one from my school finds out who I am *sneaks around*  I'm cool with being out on there, just not for people I haven't told at my school finding out who Adam is.

I had a facebook for years but I deleted it because some bad sh** went down and I got sick of everyone asking me about it. And it tore me to pieces to watch my classmates going on to brilliant careers and world travels and general happiness. And I had at least one stalker who wasn't a very nice guy.

I might make another one, though, especially now that it looks like the privacy settings options are better.

I read a lot of blogs and stuff, but I don't have an active online identity outside of here, okcupid, and gmail. Anyone here is welcome to say hi through those means, but they don't have the same friend-collecting mechanism as social networking sites.
