Title: hello
Post by: Marta on March 31, 2011, 05:38:28 AM
Hi im Marta and im new here, im not a transgender individual but im here because i consider myself a significant other. My uncle just came out to the family as transgender and id say most of the family is not supportive and very upset. I however love my uncle dearly and am here to support him in whatever decision he makes. Im not yet accustomed to calling him, her since its something that just happened but i know in time things will fall into place. I joined this site to learn, make friends and to just be supportive of my uncle in which ever way i can. He is special to me and i love him very much so thats a big reason im here.  i hope i can learn alot here ;D

Hi Marta. Welcome to Susan's. Your uncle is a lucky lady to have you as a niece. We all need support with what we are going through and family is probably the most important. If we can do anything or answer any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Someone will have an answer or at least know where to go to get one.
Once again welcome
Hugs
Beth

Hi Marta, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 5900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another SO. :icon_hug:

Marta:

You have come to the right place.  And thank you so much for your support of her.  You have no idea how helpful it is to have the support of your family in this process.  It really can make all the difference in the world to her.

Not only do we have a large family here in the forums who are in every stage of transition.  But we also have a very extensive wiki which contains a very large amount of information about transgender and transsexuality.  This is a daunting process.  Literally there is no part of a persons existence that isn't touched by their gender.  There are legal, medical, and social implications that can be dizzying to comprehend.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.  We support each other here.  And that includes you too, Marta.  Your questions and concerns are important to us as well.  When a person changes their gender, it is a transition not only for themselves, but everyone around them as well.  It can be so confusing to everyone.  Your uncle, soon to be your aunt, is going through the most trying time right now an your support will help make that time for both of you less stressful.

Thank you and welcome to Susan's!

-Sandy
