I'm posting for a friend, I hope she doesnt mind.
I have a dear friend who emailed me today saying she had alot of bleeding last night. She is 1 year post-op. She did not think it happened from dilation, but is unsure. She didnt have intercourse last night, but has a boyfriend where she could have possibly had a tear from sex. The bleeding has stopped mostly now, but last night was bad. She is scared.
Her surgeon just responded telling her to step down a size with her dilator. It looks like she is okay.
Has anyone else had this happen to them this long after surgery? Is our vagina that sensitive to tearing? It is concerning, alot of girls say they have no problems with intercourse, so I hope this is an isolated issue and she is okay.

I had spotted bleeding nearly a year after my surgery and this was due to having sex with my boyfriend. It was a concern at the time, but I remained calm and my boyfriend was also deeply concerned. However over time the problem disappeared and has never resurfaced since.
If the bleeding was a lot then yes it would be of real concern, but if it is only spotting then, then it is just the roughness occurring during sex and a little more time and lubricant will solve that particular problem and a personal hygiene product was also used to prevent stains afterwards.

Your welcome Valerie any time. I also thought it was a little bit more than spotting, but since she has already asked her surgeon and gone down a size and a little more care for the time being should solve this particular problem. But if it continues to persist. Then it will be need to be looked at.
Something that I did not mention above, I was a little bit more vigilant in watching to see if there were any further signs of bleeding down there and yes there was. However, the amount and duration was not too much and as I said as time passed the bleeding eventually stopped.

I can only speak for me that I have never bled not even after i started dilating. she needs to check into that. a tear doesnt cause you to bleed like a period.

Your absolutely right Sarah, lubricant and a patience gentle boyfriend does help, it helped me, it takes time for a girl to heal.

On one hand, I'm preop and will probably remain nonop. Upon reading this, many postoperatives are apt to shut down and disregard another word I say. I beg their attention on this matter.
On the other hand, I've done medical transcription and transcription QA/QC (Best of the Best) for nearly 15 years, so I know A LOT about this subject inasmuch as I've typed and/or reviewed THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of gynecological hospital reports over the years.
Chances are that hers is an isolated incident due to "enthusiastic thrusting" and nothing more than this. Surely, a postoperative tear can occur. Consider, please, that very-high-dose (relative to natal women) estrogen we take during transition softens our skin immensely from many of us. Skin tears are apt to occur much, much more easily than pretransition and, perchance, much more easily than in natral females because of estrogen's effects upon us.
My recommendation to ANY postoperative T-girl:
Get an annual well-woman examination complete with a pelvic bimanual examination and a sterile speculum examination by either a gynecologist or an internist who knows what they are doing with this matter.
A postop T-girl to some extent is an anatomical woman now and, so, requires these exams yearly if not biannually. Actual biological women need closer attention than we do for a multitude of medical reasons beyond the scope of this post.
About your friend, Valerie:
Sure, going down a size in dilators may help. However, she REALLY should see a gynecologist and get an examination as mentioned above. Just my two-cents' worth. In this particular matter, I believe I'm well-qualified to offer said opinion.
My best to ALL you postoperative T-girls! Yeah, I'm kind of jealous. However, given my age and circumstances, going operative may not be in the cards such that the risks may outweigh the benefits in my particular case.

Thanks Valerie for the update. It's good to hear that she is going to a gynaecologist, the amount of blood being reported was to much and I was going to say, "tell her to go to a doctor".
