Am still a bit uncomfortable going into salons of any kind since I depend a lot of shading with make up to pass, am sure them experts will read me in a instant. Wanted to get my eyebrows threaded properly rather than doing a bad job with plucking so I worn my (tom)boy clothes and lowered my voice a bit. It sounded awful like a girl pretending to be a boy as joke not taking them seriously. When am uncomfortable or know for sure I'll get read I admit to being trans right away and using my letter + medical card + ID as a "shield" to hide behind. they handle men as well so wanted to make very sure they wont do it like a boys eyebrows, gave them the set and she called the manager >.<.  they thought it somekind of skin problem, after I explained it to them they were surprised and said they really thought I was "tomboy". Only 1 person at the door used "he" once when I really tired to lower my voice, but it seemed to normalized it self as I went on; then found out them sutile movements didn't help either. Made such a fuss over it over nothing really. I tried and failed to be a boy, lived for years and years as one so I should be a bit of a expert? I think I forgot what it's like to be a boy now, like a distant memory or a dream that I can vaguely remember.

Next challenge: bank accounts. I got this bank account that I forgot about which I don't use at all (think it has 2 digits on it). I already processed all my legal documents which includes all my id, even without any makeup shading I don't quiet look like the photo anymore. This is going to be quiet hard, maybe I should get one of them fake stick on moustaches before going in. might need to ask a FTM for help

This is getting out of hand, a year ago I sound like his sister calling for him, now I look like his sister going in to do it for him. Guess I cant be a boy more when its more connivant for me

I remember that happening.  It's a little frustrating to realize you can no longer do what you used to be so good at.  I used to think, "If I ever need to I can totally pass as a boy.  After all I used to do it all the time."  Yeah...not so much.

It gets very irritating when you are not full time yet.  I went thru that the last month when I was still in 'boy' mode.  It is then that you realize that it is time to live 'full time'.

Hehe. Last week I dressed like a tomboy for 5 days, as a statement that my clothing doesn't define my gender (long story. If you are curious PM me.). It killed me because I'm very femme, but one thing I was told during this week was that even in boys clothes I still look like a girl. I smiled and told one friend sarcastically "Oh no. What will I ever do...?" I kept getting compliments like this, a real ego booster for someone who had the poorest of body image just 6 months ago.

Janet, you weren't full-time as soon as a month ago! I am very surprised!

Sorry Melody.  I confused some people.  The month that I was talking about was August 2008.  Hell, girlfriend I have been full time since sept 2008, including work.

This kind of thing happened to me a lot at the end of last year...but now i even get wolf whistles when i'm out skating.

It's impossible for me to comprehend why in the world anyone in from this specific forum would even want to pass as a boy, but hey, I believe congratulations is in order!

Early in mytransistion I started passing as female while dressed as male. One night at a movie still dressed as a boy I went to the mens room and confused a 10 year old boy walking in. He walked back out to check the restroom sign lol

that happened with me with some older man and i really wonder how that is even possible, considering i hadn't been on hormones that long and i've probably taken less care with my appearance than even most boys. i wonder if that would happen again. i'd probably have to get out more to know

This happenes to me more times then I would like. I now fear using the mens room(not FT yet)  more then I ever did using the womens room.

I don't necessarily dress manly but I also don't wear any thing feminine, just androgynous a bit.

The times I have been gendered female presenting male have been fairly definate, not the stuttering type like uhh..ma' mr ahh ms hmmm. They were always a definate ms or ma'am.

I went for a job interview months ago, I mann'ed it up all the way UGH, I was gendered female by the interviewer and then almost gave an old man a heart attack in the mens room. My point to all this is to not say "oh look at me I can't pass as a man any more" quite the contrary, this gets very awkward most times.
What I would like to know is; what specific female gender markers am I giving off? is it the hair, face, posture, body, what?? I can't imagine any of these, maybe the hair but many guys have pony tails.

I would like to know this, I feel it would give me more confidence in my self, even though it feels very natural to me the times I do present female and I feel more like a cd when presenting male, I still have low self esteem in myself.

Shelly it's probably a combination of things but mostly your face. I'm married and I would ask my wife why all the time. I don't act overly feminine and I never really worked on my voice. My voice is midrange so it falls between genders and I've always spoken softly

I think for me it is my face. Like you it caused a lot of confidence issue which would cause anxiety.
