Title: Obsessing over weight - preparing for chest surgery
Post by: LorenAndrew on April 26, 2011, 09:14:23 AM
So I plan to have top surgery in December.  I have been told the results are better for smaller guys, and also having muscle helps direct the surgeon with incisions.

I am pretty overweight, and I know it's probably bad to say.. but I want to lose as much weight as I can before December.  However, I want to lose it in a way that I won't gain it all back either!  Any suggestions?

Also, as I am just starting on T, I realize that working out is going to increase muscles.  I swim as my exercise of choice, and I am hoping to train myself to run as well.  Are there basic stretches/ weight lifting that I can do at home in private?  (I'm too awkward to use the weight machines at the gym).

Well, being on T will make it a bit easier.

I cut out soda for a month, and lost 5 lbs. That was without exercise or anything. To gain muscle and burn fat easily, try starting with push-ups, squats and sit-ups. I do about 100 push-ups in two 50 rep sittings a day, 100 squats, and sit-ups depend on the person. I have sciatica due to the weight gain in my glutes pressing in the nerves, so I can't do sit-ups.
