Title: Can God change a man into a woman,or a woman into a man?
Post by: Richard D on April 27, 2011, 02:15:26 PM
I need to ask this question urgently. What I am about to write is absolutely true but I need HELP!I became a Christian at the age of 20 in 1987,I am 44 now, male, living in Cheshire,U.K. I have been struggling with "gender dysphoria" since my early to mid 20s though my earliest memory is of trying on my Mum`s lipstick at the age of about 5 or 6. My Mum is also a Christian and very understanding and supportive.Anyway, I have wanted to look like, dress like, live like a woman since about the mid 1990s though as I said above the feelings go back a lot longer. I`ve never done much about it except dress up partialy in women`s clothes,or a wig or make-up (which I`m poor at applying! :)  ) and I`ve always had this guilt. Things reached a crisis about 2 weeks ago as I`ve always tried to intellectualize/analyse myself and work out what is the "correct" way to express this really strong desire, need almost to be a woman. So on the evening of April 13th whilst I was going through a particularly strong gender dysphoria episode I was looking at myself in the mirror of my bathroom and thinking, praying about it all  and this clear image of a swan or swans came into my mind. Now see James ch 1 vs 22-25 about the law of freedom and mirrors. So I prayed:"If I can do everything to look like a woman and also become a woman this side of heaven, let me see an image(not the word "swan") of a swan somewhere within 7 days"And on April 15th there was a photo of swans in the UK paper The Guardian! So my prayers were answered.Or were they,I`m still in doubt-what does this mean? I hope someone can help and is encouraged. I also read Romans ch 8 v22-25. AFTER seeing the newspaper photo.Finaly the Mute Swan can be transgender, according to Wikipedia. Is God going to change me into a woman,I hope so,but would He?

I don't want to sound rude but, I don't think so.
He can give you the power to make your dreams come true if you're hard working on it yourself.
I'm not a religian, there are many christian people on this forum, maybe they can help you better than I do.
But I have never heard that something like that happend.

Very simply, no.  I do believe God made us who we are, and what we do with that knowledge is up to us.  We all have different circumstances and lots in life.  There are so many variables for each of us.  What is the right path for you?  Who can know, besides you?  Just know that however it turns out for you, you are "fearfully and wonderfully made.: (Psalm 139:14)

While that might be a nice dream, its not too likely.  God doesn't normally do things like that, but Satan would be known to try to trick/trap you in that type of deception.

I *do* think God could do this.  If He's all powerful, of course He can do this.  But I agree with others - it's not how He seems to work.  He might be able to, but He doesn't seem to do it (I don't know of anyone that had that prayer answered without also utilizing people He's gifted on earth).

I'd also add that I doubt God is as hung up on sex organs as humans are.  I think there's more to being a man or a woman than the organs (that said, I'm not discounting the importance of our bodies matching who we are).  I won't speak for you, other than to say He very well may have made you a woman when He made you.  You might not need to "turn into" a woman, although you may feel the desire and need to live as you are, conforming to who He created you to be - which very well might be a woman.  There's nothing wrong with living an honest life, even if your birth certificate doesn't list the truth.  You shouldn't live a lie just because some humans looked at the outward and, thus, came to the wrong conclusion (there's a whole spiritual lesson in this - it's yet one more way we focus on what we can see rather than what actually is).

God can answer our prayers in many ways.  We get in trouble when we assume that He must do things a certain way.  He's helped me meet my financial needs, for instance, by giving me the ability to learn in my field, get hired by an employer, etc.  It took hard work on my part, but the ability to do that came from God.  It's no less God's work than if I received an anonymous gift of cash on my doorstep!  I thank God for it, just like I thank Him for my "daily bread" which I bought with income I received as a result of the time I spent laboring for my employer.  That doesn't mean God still isn't 100% the source of everything.  I am extremely thankful for how God can help people become who they are through gifted doctors and surgeons.  I wouldn't deny that these abilities came from God, nor would I ignore accepting any gift God offered me, even when my own work and the hard work of others may have been part of how God accomplished it.

So maybe He has answered your prayer.  Maybe it's not that you will wake up, having done nothing different the night before, with the body that is true to yourself.  Maybe instead it is that He will guide you and help you on the journey to becoming true to yourself and showing the world God's truth in you.

As for our bodies being proper, that's going to happen for sure.  Just not always on earth, sometimes in heaven.  But regardless, that doesn't mean we can't live true to ourselves on earth, through whatever means God provides.  If that includes things like clothes that reflect our being or even things like surgery, we shouldn't deny ourselves those options - particularly if they allow us to be honest with ourselves and others.

God can change man into a woman (end opposite) but he(it) don't do it.
Why he(it) should do it?
You got all resources to do it.
It is like a parent and children, good parent is just a support and guide, child must be managed to be standalone, if child have everything dome by parent, then it have no gratitude and don't know value of things
This is same you have to do it yourself to be stronger and appreciate what you are and what you have.
God don't do it because it will not be good for you, but he(it) give you support to do it.

Yes, that's why society has developed to the point where we have surgeons and  SRS.  Anything else is unrealistic to expect.
When we were children we believed as children. Now we are adults we believe as adults.

Hey Richard.  As the Bible says, "All things are possible with God."  It also says, "Having believed, you will receive."  Can God change a woman into a man and vice versa.  Absolutely!  How God chooses to make that happen...either His doing or providing the surgeon....is totally up to Him!

If you start with the assumption that there is a god, and that god IS god, then you would have to conclude that sure, god could do it, he just doesn't want to.  But perhaps god gave you another way out, Allah InshAllah.

Hi...In a way, God 'is' able to change you into a woman.  He gave mankind free WILL and the innate ability to learn anything and do anything. After all "Were we not made in His image?"...Since we have the ability and the science to do the medical operation...then it is God's Plan to do so. WE ARE NOT THE CREATION OF THE DEVIL HONEY. WE ARE THE CREATION OF GOD. Someday science will be able to COMPLETELY CHANGE SOMEONE INTO THE OPPOSITE SEX.    Remember this..."Seek And You Shall Find"  As a Christian you must always keep Faith inside you. In everything you do. Do not fear. We are loved by God.

Look at hijras for example, they don't use any modern science
Also many of TS people were shamans (witches or something like it) and they were respected
Just problem was a middle ages (dark age), before that was TS more acceped than is today

God does'nt hate trans people.  The Bible says, it's not for us, to know His ways.  And...if you want to go there...the Bible says..."God uses the foolish things of the world to comfound the wise."  So, if I am one of the foolish things....I am in great company!

Let's assume there is a god that can do that sort of thing.  Thus far I know of no documentable evidence this has happened at any time in human history.  So I'd say odds are not in your favor this particular kind of god is going to make you the first.

What I do know is that book that is often quoted as being god's word is often abused and used to harm people who small-minded people just don't want to take the time to get to know.  Too often quotes from the bible are taken out of context and the very same people god is said to have created are hurt and sometimes killed all in the name of god.

If that isn't insanity, I don't know what is.

So rather than looking for god to single you out as the first person who will be transformed, why not use your knowledge of god and the bible and put it to good use by educating those very same people who would crucify you if you decided to transition to female.  I think you have better odds at success doing that.

When i was 4 year old my Mom told me that G-d can do any kind of miracles. I was so elated with this news. I will pray every night to G-d to change me overnight, but every morning I will still be in the wrong body. I told myself that I was not praying hard enough. Eventually by time I was 8 or 9 year old, I stopped praying, and my life continued to be a misery. One day in my late teens G-d come to me in a dream and told me""Trust me, there is plan, your questions will be answered someday until then be happy the way you are, seek wisdom, do not abandon me and I will be by your side."

G-d has been good to me, I love her very much, and talk to her very morning and night. Imagine your success, follow your hart, and G-d will take you there

Best,

Kate

My feeling is this is part of God's plan. But we can turn this and anything toward an evil purpose.

Though I don't believe evil has the power to affect life. It can only convince us, for it's own ends.

Just a suggestion you may want to ask God if this is from Him and if so what is He trying to tell you. (Why is it that it's ok to pray and talk to God but if we say that God talks to us we are considered crazy?) Why wouldn't He talk to us?
Ask Him for confirmation in a way that you would know it's from Him.

QuoteThere once was a man who believed in God. He had a home in a small town and he prayed everyday. One day it started to rain, and rain. It rained so much and so hard that the town began to flood, all of the man's neighbors began to pack up their stuff, and the man began to pray. He prayed for God to save him.

As the man's house began to fill with water he moved to higher ground in his loft, and he prayed for God to save him.

Not too much later his neighbor rowed over in a boat and pleaded for the man to leave his house and get in the boat. However, the man refused to leave his home. He said, "I have been praying, and I have faith that God will save me." So his neighbor left.

Soon the water began to fill the loft, so the man moved to higher ground on his roof and he prayed for God to save him.

Not too much later, he saw a raft floating near by. The people in the raft begged him to join them, so that they may find safety together. Again the man refused to leave his home. He said, "I have been praying, and I have faith that God will save me." So the people left.

Soon the water began to cover the rooftop, and the man had no place left to go, so he prayed and he prayed. Suddenly he heard a helicopter, and saw a long rope ladder in front of him. "Grab on someone yelled, we will save you!" But again the man refused. He said, "I have been praying, and I have faith that God will save me."
Well needless to say that stubborn man drowned.

When he reached heaven he was very disappointed with God. He asked "Father I just can't understand, I prayed and prayed, and I had constant faith in you. Why didn't you save me?" The Lord replied, "My child, I sent you a boat, a raft, and even a helicopter. I tried to save you, it was you who refused to be saved."

Anything is possible but , how has that worked out for you so far?

The only biblical reference (that I know of) concerning any sort of gender ambiguity caused by the "Almighty" is:

Matthew19:12
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb:
and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs,
which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.
He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

The Bible says that all things are possible for God so I reckon He could change your body. It also is written that He chooses a body as He sees fit. Evidently He chose the body you have.
It also is written that His ways are a mystery and not our ways. Neither are His thoughts our thoughts. Since it says that nothing is unclean of its self and what a man esteems to be unclean is unclean to him I guess the operation standpoint falls in there. Sort of like does faith consist of tarrying in the body you have or does faith consist of getting an operation?
It's easy to believe if your body aligns with your mind and such. Some of us straight folk have an easier time with that than you all. The one thing that not being healed from my infirmities has taught me is that it shore was easier to believe in healing before I had infirmities that don't get healed. So I just keep going and believe anyway.
I aint saying you should be seeking a healing but rather that it may be a challenge to believe when the answers don't come. Just cause He don't change your body it doesn't mean He can't. He might just be wanting to show others if you will love Him regardless. Kind of like a witness.
Whether or not you have the wrong body for your mind or whatever is between you and God and not for me to judge. Whether you keep it as is or modify it I hope you have a peace about it. I imagine that it takes faith for a Christian to have surgery. If so I can admire that.
Whatever you do end up believing or doing I wish you well.

It can enrich you if you take it right way

To Del.  I am one of those christians, that has the faith...and has done the surgery.  Through my transition, my faith in God has gotten stronger and stronger.  He is my God, My Lord, my Savior.  He is the light of my life.  My shield, my salvation...the strength of my life.  In the book of Jeremiah....it talks about the potter and the clay.  (Of course...God being the potter and myself the clay.)  And it says..."the clay became marred in the potter's hand, so, He re-made it, into something good,"  So, no matter what any church or religion might think of me....I know who I believe in.

I am glad to see that your faith has grown. That is really admirable. I hope the Lord blesses all that you do.

I do hope that my wording did not cause others to think that I thought  transgender people going through surgery as having no faith. I reckon that some have their faith made stronger with surgery just as some others may have it made stronger without surgery.

At any rate I am happy for you.

Kia Ora RD,

::) I'm not a follower of any god-centric belief system, but over the years of interacting with those who do believe,  it would seem their  "God tends to helps those who "help" themselves!" in other words they became more "proactive" and didn't just sit back and wait for the miracles to happen...

There once was a man that prayed to God to save him from a flood.  As the waters rose a fire truck came by to rescue the man, but he replied that God would save him.  The waters continued to rise and along came a boat to rescue the man, but after expressing his gratitude, he said that God would save him.  Soon the waters were near the top of the house and the man was praying on his roof.  Along came a helicopter to save him, but again the man refused stating that God would save him.  The man perished in that flood, and after entering heaven he asked God why he did not answer his prayers and save him.  God replied, "I sent you a fire truck, a rescue boat, and a helicopter - what more did you want?"

The point of the story is that God often does wonders through a variety of means, and people are often the hands of God on earth.  There are many good doctors and surgeons that have saved many people and who can correct many problems, including genital birth defects.

How come no one posted the obvious answer?  Sure he could, he's god, but he has to like you first.  If you prayed and it didn't come true, then god just doesn't like you all that much.

Dear Tekla,

The leaders of my tribe speak of the time when G-d become silent. It is also true that there is a time when G-d stop doing fancy miracles.
I know you are are very smart, how you thought as to why the enemies of us have not implemented certain actions? With everything I know about the subject and subjects my only conclusion  -as Sherlock Homes would have done it- is that G-d is not allowing certain actions to take place.  So, I am convinced by deeds that G-d still watches over us. Perhaps in a different level as know we are teens and not toddlers

The answer is simple. God made you a woman at birth. He also handed you a challenge: to recognize that you ARE a woman and to deal with it.

God has the power, yes. BUT the question is what are his plans.  In the end the most logical thing to do to make this a reality is to find the gender therapist and pursue a "transition" that is available to you.  Those things exist, HRt hormone replacement therapy and SRS as well as other surgeries that can help with changing your self and your body into the transsexual woman that is possible.  So go to your health care people and ask for direction as to what you need to do in your country.

I personally think G-D can. I mean not in a magical or instant change, but G-D did gift Therapist's, Surgeon's and Medical Providers to assist us in our journey. I have no guilt that what I am doing is wrong at all. I get a "sense" that this is G-D's plan for me, why I don't know because that is up to G-D. :)
