Title: Binder rolling up
Post by: JohnAlex on May 11, 2011, 12:58:23 PM
So I just got a binder, the 997 from Underworks.   And I love it, I think it binds me real well.   But it keeps rolling up and then cutting into me, and that is painful.

I just have no idea what to do about it.  How can I get it to stay down?

EDIT:
Okay, so I've been trying to take the advice here.  And it really is working well if I pull my binder down all the way and wear my pants tight, and wear a shirt under my binder.

but the problem I'm having now is I feel so constricted in a binder, is this the way it's suppose to be?  I feel like I can't bend over or else my binder will roll up.  It's actually pretty uncomfortable.  My binder out of ace bandages was much more comfortable.

I wear a compression shirt under mine and that seems to help me..... It is also supper long on me so I tuck it under my underwear band if I don't have a compression shirt & that helps me too.

I had this problem when I first started binding.  I pull the binder down as far as it'll go and tuck it into my trousers like an undershirt.  Throughout the day sometimes it'll roll up, but I've gotten in the habit of putting my hands in my pockets and rolling it back down.

How far is it rolling up?

If I let it go all day, it rolls up about half way.  above my stomach.  But I will usually go into a bathroom and fix it before it gets that high.  But within 10 minutes, it slowly starts rolling up again.

Try tucking it into your trousers and wear a belt.  That should help to keep it from rolling up to your stomach.

Have you tried folding up the last inch or two?  That kept it down on me.

The thing that really helps me is wearing a back brace (I need it anyway) and it keeps my binder from bunching up.  Maybe something similar would help you?  A big piece of elastic with velcro and wrapped around your waist semi-tightly?  That way it wouldn't be so bulky but would have a similar effect.

i also pull it down as far as i can and tuck into my pants and boxers and wear a belt. after a long work day it does start to come up to the top of my hips maybe, but not halfway up like it used to before i did that

Thirding the "tuck it in your pants" option. Even with my prodigious girth, mine doesn't roll up if it's tucked in.

what I do, or did, is pull the bottom edge of the binder up over the binder itself until it's up over my chest.
This gives twice the compression and removes the rolling-up problem completely without constricting my movement, I've found.

How do you get it to stay up over itself?  When I tried that, it just wants to roll down my chest and all bunch up just under my breasts.  It just wants to slip and slide on its own material.

At first I used a safety pin, but after a while it was as if the binder got used to it and it no longer required the safety pin to stay up, even if I put it on freshly washed.
