Title: Apparently, i figured out that my growth was stunted

My growth was stunted at the young age of six because my vagina fell out and the doctor put me on artificial estrogen for some reason. lately, someone at a vitamin store told me that i shouldn't be taking any hormones at an age so young. If I am 18 and it's too young to use hormones, why the did a doctor put me as a child on fake hormones? Anyway, I began developing secondary sex characteristics too early and i grew slowly. I still grow slowly, I believe, because I grew three inches since fifteen year old to now. It really depresses me that I could have been taller. My brother is the tallest in the family and he is very tall. He looks almost like me, has the same food preferences, the same blood type, and almost everything is similar, so I am assuming that if I wasn't prescribed hormones as a young child, I might have been very tall as well. And I plan to transition so I desire to be tall, just like many other transmale people.
And, why are people so against HGH? It's not like I will just buy it and inject myself with it, and I am obviously going to get a professional to prescribe it and monitor me. I hear of the side effects, but is it really that bad compared to other drugs out there? And, I know many of you will flame me and call me shallow, but I really do think that getting taller will fix many of my self esteem issues. It's probably just as shallow as a girl with a big nose who is getting a nose job in order to help her self esteem, but wow, I really don't care how shallow it is. I guess I can't really "get over" it because I have already been trying to accept myself for years and it's not working, and I have been made fun of by family members for being short, always pressured to grow taller (not to mention that my family constantly tells me to get plastic surgery on my face), and I used to get brushed off by gym teachers, coaches, and students because I was so small.
I already made appointment with a therapist but I am figuring out how to meet him. In the meanwhile, does anyone feel the same as I do, felt how I did, or have insight other than "accept yourself you are beautiful as you are ^_^" or "there are many short guys and short ftm's so it's ok!" or "get over it"? Society is less merciful on short guys than short girls, I know that much.

I am probably the most shallow person I know, but I know it may be because I was always told that I have to be good looking, etc
If I am not good looking (and my ugliness often gets a lot of remarks and people aren't afraid to physically assault me because they know they can get away with it).. at least I want my height to work in my favor.

How tall are you?
Unless you're shorter than 5'2 as a male, your life shouldn't be that horrible. 5'4-5'5 as a male might be annoying but it's not horrible either.
I'm 5'7 as a male, and my life is normal. It's consider shorter than average, or average depending where I am at .

i'm 5'2 and would hate it and loose hope and everything if i didn't live in an area where many guys are as short as me. if i knew any easy way to gain a few more inches, then i'd do it. was horrible in high school when i realized i'll never be tall enough to become a ->-bleeped-<- pilot, and it doesn't make it any better that i'm missing just one single inch to be within the height limit
sorry that i can help you grow taller, but you really aren't shallow for wanting more height. even girls will take drastic measures if they're unhappy being far below the average

I'm not going to say you're shallow or anything. Plenty of people wish they were taller. I don't know whether HGH will do anything height-wise if your growth plates have already fused. Have you talked to your doctor about it?
While this may be true, it's not the big deal you're thinking once you make it past your school years. Sure, short kids get picked on (as do fat kids and skinny kids, and kids with any other feature from the norm), and a seeming majority of women may prefer tall men (as just one measure of criteria, there's many other factors for which you can make up for it). But life as a short guy isn't a death sentence. lol
Before transition, I thought being 'suddenly short' (I was average for female) was going to be this big deal, but it's not. I'm only 5'6 and I don't stick out at all as a guy. In any given group of guys, there's usually a few taller than me, a few my height, and at least one or two shorter than me. 5'10 may be average in the U.S. for a guy but there are a heck of a lot of guys out there below that.
And while society may be less merciful to short guys than girls, as a guy you're not going to be near as heavily scrutinized for your looks in the first place. The only one who cares about a guy's height is the guy himself.

My twins father was only 4'10", some people are just short as some are just tall. As ftm, we will often be on the short end.

Honestly, my professional opinion is that you should file a lawsuit against the doctor who prescribed you the hormones if you can legally prove that A. You did not, as a child, realistically know what those hormones could do to you in the long run. B. That the specific hormones are proven to cause stunting in growth. and C. If a lawyer can help you find a way to go around the Statute Of Limitations (if you're in the US); I believe the Statute Of Limitations can be worked around in cases where a patient does not find out what a doctor or person did to them until many years later.
I mean really, height is a truly important feature and I can tell you right now that short people do get discriminated; especially the ones that are short enough to look goofy, but not short enough to receive medical empathy (like how Midgets do receive respect in the modern world). From now on, I would also tell anyone who makes fun of you that you have medical-grade dwarfism and it should shut them up to some extent. Also, if you do file a lawsuit against your previous doctor, either the money won from it can be used for the growth treatments or a nice, deserved chunk of money may help you put your emotions into pursuing new goals in life that money will help you achieve.
P.S. I'm 5'4-5'5 as a biological male, and I didn't grow a centimeter after like age 13. My doctor-regulated growth chart suddenly drops off at 13; my doctor said that happens in only about 5% of human beings worldwide. However, I'm decently lucky enough somehow naturally surround myself with other short females and males. Everyone I've ever known has been about 5'6, both male and female. I tend to be about just an inch or two shorter than any of my past friends; not downright horrible, but it is something I've always been self-concious about since I do believe I should have been both my parents height; around 5'7.

whatever doctor gave you "artificial estrogen" sounds like a real genius. estrogen of any kind is not going to grow a vagina back. many of us mtf would be pretty pleased if estrogen made our penises fall off and grow a vagina. not that i ever heard of a vagina falling out. (wasn't sure that was even possible) i would agree with rhino, legal action should be taken.

I believe a prolapse is being referred to, not a 'vagina falling out' exactly.

Wear elevator shoes if it bothers you that much lol. I wear elevator shoes ranging from 2 inches to 3.5 inches, but ONLY because I know that statistically if I appear 5'10 then I might make more money then the next guy. I don't wear elevator shoes outside of the workplace since I love my height.

It's sadly true. Statistically (and overwhelmingly so), the most common and significant forms of discrimination in the workplace are related to height and looks. This is true over race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. You're better off for hiring and promotions as a tall, good-looking, gay black man than a short, unattractive, str8 white male. It's possible that fear of lawsuits over those things is a factor whereas how many people sue over discrimination for height or good looks? Also, I don't think many people are consciously doing it. We just tend to respond well to tall, good-looking people.
I'm 5'7 and have made lists of all the things I would do to be 6'4 in the past. I'm since not nearly so obsessed with tallness. I used to obsess over taller guys, but lately that's flipped around completely. Now I prefer guys that are shorter than me. That's the one reason I still find the idea of being taller myself appealing-- because more guys would be shorter than me. :)

wow this place actually got alot of response while i was gone...
well i am 18, i dont think my growth plates fused (i am just assuming from gut feeling)
i have really tall relatives so i swear to ->-bleeped-<-ing god its the hormones that my doctors put me on that has stunted my growth
and yea i am like 5'0, my relatives are like 5'8 to 6'5.... even the girls are that tall. i understand where my napoleon complex comes from..
yea i want to sue that f***er. i got the prolapse (thank you whoever mentioned that) when i was around 8, and the guy put me on estrogens claiming that it will bring my vagina back in. that ->-bleeped-<-er just wanted to touch some child pussy, that's all that he wanted. i got breast lumps and a period a month after that. oh great, i can sue him for pedophilia too.
i just hope he's not dead lol he was pretty old...

oh btw i just researched. estrogen keeps the uterine muscles strong so it does help prolapses go back to normal
but still, why the <not allowed> would you ever put a child on hormones? especially ones that can stunt the child's development? i swear to god my mother always took me to the stupidest people. and she easily got duped.

I can't say that I understand fully, since I've never had a prolapse. But I'm the exact same height as you, 5'0". My mother is short, but my dad and brothers are average height, and the rest of my female relatives are abnormally tall. My doctor and the therapist that I was with after my parents divorced both believe I had stunted growth due to violent physical and emotional abuse as a child.
Not much can be done about it in my case. I'm 20, so I don't think I'll be growing much more, if at all... Though I recently started posture exercises, and it seems to help some. I wear 2 1/2" insoles and 8" combat stacks when I cosplay (I can get away with it more). What scares me is the thought that my height could easily affect my being hired... I'm in college, majoring in German and Global Studies and minoring in Russian Studies, I want to be a diplomat one day...
