Title: t injections can be painless!
Post by: RyGuy on May 25, 2011, 12:35:55 AM
I absolutely swear by the Reli-On disinfecting wipes with pain relief. I believe Reli-On is Walmart's brand of diabetic supplies, so everyone has them. Seriously, just replace your normal cleaning wipes with these cheap bad boys and I swear on my life you will never feel a needle go in your leg again. Just thought I'd share since some guys struggle with this.

Thanks for the info! I've never seen any of them say with pain relief, and I buy Reli-on alcohol wipes for my grandmother who is diabetic.

I like the feel of the needle going in my leg. If it were numb I probably wouldn't have known to stop last time I was injecting and hit a vein, hurt like a bitch!

Never heard of these, definitely going to check them out.  A few weeks back, I had an especially painful shot and with my shots since then, I've kind of been psyching myself out because I think I worry it will happen again.

to jay, it doesn't get so numb that you would do anything dangerous (i have hit a vein before and immediately knew to stop) but rather can help a lot of people with the initial feeling of poking through. the numbness is no more intense than what you would expect for an over the counter topical wipe.

sascraps, the "pain relief" bit is benzocaine, so you'd be looking for "alcohol wipes with benzocaine"

If you hit vein...that's why you register once you're in...by pulling back on the plunger a bit...if you see an air bubble...you're good to go...if you see blood, take it out, stab again in a different spot, register again, and inject

But if you see blood go up into the syringe you have to toss all that testosterone away and start again. Maybe it's just me but it hurt a LOT when I hit a vein so I didn't have to start over, soon as I pulled the needle out of my leg blood just came gushing, it was fun to watch.

I find what helps with the poking the needle in, is pinching the skin. Anyone else taught to do that. I don't even feel the needle break the skin sometimes. However I do like the idea of numbing now more than I did before...shots are beginning to hurt more. Perhaps I'll try my other leg, this one is being a dick.
