Title: Question about multiple E patches.
Post by: HitOrMiss. on May 28, 2011, 01:14:32 PM
Hi everyone. It'll be a few days or a week before I can ask my Doctor about this, so I was wondering if anyone here has some knowledge about this.
Basically, I've been using patches for my estrogen supply for 6 months now and my Endo just increased my dosage  ;D .
However, the patches don't come in that high of a dosage so I have to use two at a time now. The question is, where should I put the second one?
Basically, my options are to put them close together in the same area of the body or to spread them out.

Any thoughts?

Thanks  :)

Your best bet is to ask your doctor.  If that is not possible then ask the pharmacist.

Place them on opposite sides of the body. It doesn't matter that much - but the idea is not to flood the skin in one area with too much - thus reducing the possibility of localised skin irritation.

When I was using patches (three at a time) I would just put them in a row. I would start at one side of my abdomen and work my way to the other then start over.

Thanks for your opinions.
For some closure, my doc said that it really doesn't matter since the hormones are absorbed through the skin so easily that you could put the patches beside each other in a clump or spread out and it wouldn't make a difference. So basically just do whichever is more convenient.
Hope she's right.
