Focus On What's Above The Waist, Not Below It

One of the things I keep hearing from elements of the community in this 'transsexual vs transgender' word semantic fight that bother me from the folks on the 'transsexual uber alles' side of it is commentary laced with the foul smell of internalized transphobia and homophobia.
I've heard and read comments viciously tearing into crossdressers and people expressing their 'ick' factors about pre-op and non op transwomen to the point it makes me wonder if I'm on some right wing website instead of a so called liberal-progressive one and I'm tired of it

"People outside and inside the trans community need to grow the hell up and focus on what's above the waist rather than what's below it. The only people who are going to see the genitalia you spent $10K or more surgically acquiring between your legs is you, your various doctors and the person you're getting intimate with."
I think both above the waist and below the waist are important, with priorities varying between individuals. Some people choose not to have SRS, some want it but can't get it for whatever reason, and others go ahead with it. Congrats to all of them and I hope the path they choose brings them fulfillment in life.
While I think the biggest sex organ is the brain, many individuals still have a big problem with their genitals not matching their gender identity, and the above quoted statement seems to minimize that. The same statement could be applied to CIS folks, but if their genitals suddenly morphed into the opposite sex, I'm sure that they would be terribly upset, even if a limited number of people ever knew.
Personally, I experience greater and greater discomfort with my genitals both because of how it makes me feel inside and how it does not allow me to sexually relate to a partner in the way that I feel is natural for myself.

"Above the waist?" I already have enough people paying attention to my boobs.
