Title: Special High Cost Treatment Funding Pool for GRS!
Post by: Anatta on June 09, 2011, 11:23:43 PM

Kia Ora

::) I wonder if  the US government[or individual States] would ever set up a "Special High Cost Treatment Funding Pool" using tax payers money[your money]...like what we have here in Aotearoa [NZ] ? The link provides info on the "whats & hows"

http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/special-high-cost-treatment-pool (http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/special-high-cost-treatment-pool)

::) They only fund 4 surgeries over a two year period [3 M2Fs I F2M] however we are a population of only four and half million people, not sure of the figures when it comes to "transsexual" Kiwis population though...

::) Just thought some might be interested in what happens down under and how the SHCTFP system works...

It would be very nice, but here in the States it would not work.  The public would not want to fund surgeries for those "Freaks"( us ).  The general public just does not understand.  As evident in a poll for a local TV station regarding the new policy of the city of Portland funding SRS for city employees.

Quote from: KPTVYes   90   No   1,388
Even though the cost only raised the cost of city health care by less than .08 %  Even the county, Multnomah, that Portland resides in already covers it.
