Does anyone know of clothing stores that have clothes for men who are "small and short" (as opposed to "big and tall")? I'm starting T soon, and coming out at work a few weeks or so after that, so I've been wanting to get some guys' clothes. But even the smallest sizes are way too big for me (ironic, isn't it, that my whole life I've been living as a girl and having a bit of trouble finding clothes because I'm not skinny enough, and now that I'll be living as a man I'm having a hard time finding clothes because I'm not big enough). And it seems creepy and weird to shop in the boys' section. Also, the one time I did shop in the boys' section, I ended up with a pair of pants that were the perfect length but were not nearly wide enough for my hips :( Suggestions, anyone?

Lesloveboat has a couple of shirts good for transmen.
Depending on your hips and chest, Topman is probably a good bet. Clothes there are generally pretty small. So far, it's proved to be the only place I can get suit trousers in my exact size. Fit like a dream, baby.

American Eagle is great. I wear their XS shirts and 28x28 jeans, and their pants sizes go even smaller than that.

You will probably have to get some things from the boys' section, but don't beat yourself up over it too much. My brother is seven inches taller than me and he had to get dress pants for his graduation in the boys' section.

If you've got the money, Patagonia has some of its shirts in XS and pants that fit well. 

If you don't mind shopping at thrift stores theres a good chance you will find stuff for short/small guys. I have the exact same problem until I started shopping there. Not all the clothes I got there are 'teen' style either. You just got to find the real big thrift stores usually. I also got a few things from American Eagle, fit really nicely. :)

American Apparel and Urban Outfitters though a lot but not all of their stuff can be pricey.
I shop in they boys section almost exclusively. There's no reason to feel creepy about it, man. Plenty of us kinda have to do it. No shame

Urban Outfitters definitely has some smaller items. Of course for jeans/pants expect to have to hem stuff.

Also, when it comes to jackets, I'll still wear chick jackets. I really don't care anymore and I've seen other smallish frame guys also rock chick jackets from time to time because guy's jackets it seems the smallest ones are really what used to be a medium. I guess all guys want their clothes to be big on them? Also, as opposed to the boys department, you can get really awesome jackets in the chick's department that look very unisex anyway.

Apparantly, the clothing chain H&M are known for their small sizes. I'm not sure where you live, Quinn, but they have IRL-shops in the UK and the US. You can also buy their clothes online, at http://www.hm.com/gb/subdepartment/MEN (http://www.hm.com/gb/subdepartment/MEN) or http://www.hm.com/us/department/MEN (http://www.hm.com/us/department/MEN). I've not used their online shopping service personally, as there is a H&M store close to my home, but I did use their size table to figure out my size.

Somewhat amusingly, their actual name is Hennes & Mauritz, which is Swedish for Hers & Mauritz. The chain started out as selling women's underwear in the 50's, and in the 60's the company bought the company Mauritz which sold hunting equipment and men's clothes, and Hennes & Mauritz started selling men's clothes as well. Nowadays, the name Mauritz isn't considered as cool as it was in the 60's, so they've abbreviated it into H&M.

Try Topman if you live in NY or UK. They carry xxs. You can also order online too.

Shortening sleeves and pant-legs is easier than lengthening 'em. ;)

This.  I'm tall and skinny, so whenever I buy male clothing it tends to be too baggy.  I end up having to shrink them and I buy clothes that are too big for me on purpose just because I know I can get them to fit correctly myself.  So keep that in mind too :)

This is true, for men as well as women.  It's also known for being the most shoddy crap sold, disposable fashion one of my friends calls it.  It's stuff that looks great in the store and the first time you wear it, but by the third time you wear it it looks all Salvation Army.

Well, yes, H&M has pretty crappy clothes. However, it's cheap and somewhat "trendy" (it makes copies of whatever's deemed fasionable at the moment, apparantly this year the gents are expected to wear garish pastel colours), and runs in small sizes. They don't break a lot for me, they're okay clothes. And, as I've said, fairly cheap, and small sizes.

I usually have more luck in smaller shops that cater to teens/youngish adults as opposed to places like department stores. If you're a smaller pants size than 28W 28L you'll have more trouble but I know topman sells some stuff smaller than that. American Apparel also seems to run smaller; their xs shirts usually fit me (for the record I'm 5'1, around 105lb).

with a 36 inseam, finding pants long enough to fit me is quite difficult, and dress pants that fit don't exist!
Jeans it is! ALL DAY EVERY DAY!

For jeans, you could try looking into dry jeans. Ranges from cheap (cheap monday and levi shrink to fit) to expensive (Momotaro etc.).
If you keep wearing it, the denim will personalize and show 'fades' depending on how you wear it, and after washing it it can shrink a lot, or stretch. Though there are special ways to wash it and it can't just be washed the first few days. Look it up =) Dry jeans can also be helpful for the bigger but short people, since they sometimes have big waists with short inseam too =) And for long people, there are some brands that only sell things like 28 x 39 inseam which are ofc meant to be hemmed xD

I have used online tailor services like Tailor4less.com to get suits and smart clothing. Am planning on getting a coat too.

The shirt I bought was perfect fit, but since I've started T my neck size has changed somewhat and I will be buying some new shirts soon.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with them.

Just don't buy a whole new wardrobe. I did that, and now 6 months on T later my shirts are all too small (due to muscle gain, even though I don't work out).
