Title: Asexuals on T?
Post by: Donnie on June 13, 2011, 11:36:01 AM
Has there been anyone that was an asexual before HRT, but began to get into sex after starting? I mean, currently its a whatever thing for me. I would really rather not, but if my partner wanted I guess I would. Should I expect that to change once I start on hormones, even if I currently derive no pleasure from it?

If you start T there is a very good chance that you will experiance an increase in libido.

There is no guarenty that this will happen as everyone is an individual. Just most people have a noticable increase in sexual desire when they take T.

Yeah, I think it would depend on whether you are asexual due to a low libido or something else. As Cynthia said, T does tend to increase libido. But this may not happen for everyone. I haven't experienced any noticeable increase but already had a pretty healthy drive prior.

Remember that asexuality as an orientation and low libido are different things.

Yes, more or less.

Being MTF I was going on E of course, but on self reflection/analysis I think that before my transition I was asexual because I was completely conflicted about who I was, what kind of person I liked, who I wanted to be, etc. As a result of that conflict the sexual desire wiring simply short circuited. At least that's how I explain it now.

After my transition I have reason to believe that I was androgen deficient due to being on oral HRT (E). That was resolved a few months ago with switching to trans dermal patches. As a result my natural testosterone levels have probably come up closer to a normal female level. With both of those road blocks gone, for the first time I have become interested in sex. So yes, it is possible.
