Title: Meta vs Phallo
Post by: The Hawk on June 14, 2011, 03:37:35 PM
Well, I have been going to a therapist and have had top surgery, and recently started hormones, and I know that I'm going to want bottom surgery, since every time I even think of what I have down there I get super depressed.

The very earliest I would get it would be in around a year and a half, so I've begun looking at information about each procedure. When I'd get it, it would probably be with Dr. Brassard in Montreal, since I live in Ontario. I've phoned their office and found out that insurance would cover the cost, so price is not an issue.

Now, I know that Meta ends up being more realistic but very small, kind of like a guy with micropenis, but there is more sensation.

I also heard that while phallo gives a more adult size, it supposedly looks really bad? I've seen some pictures, and while I've seen some not so good results, I've also seen some that look not that bad.

Does anyone know, on average, how realistic phallo ends up looking?
And does anyone know if Dr. Brassard does a good job with these surgeries? I asked the girl at his office to send information and pictures, but the only 2 pictures she sent were super small and all-around bad photos.
And if you had to get one of the surgeries, which would it be?

(Personally I find phallo a bit more appealing, I wouldn't mind the pumping, etc, I'm just wondering if it would look like some diseased thing in between my legs.)

Hawk, many decisions to make. There are pros and cons to which surgery you have and the surgeon.  I don't have the money for either right now, but if I did I would probably go with meta with urethra lengthening so I could pee standing.  You have the best feeling in the parts afterward.  You are much smaller than a normal guy but you have something down there. I have no use for my vagina now so it would be gone and would problably get testicles implanted.  There are less problems with meta over phallo is my understanding.  Which surgeon to use? I don't know at this time.  These are some of my ideas; you need to research this very carefully before making the final decision.

There are some yahoo surgery groups and some live journal surgery groups with info and access to some photos.  Some phallos actually look fairly decent, but as far as I know they lack sensation.  I am not up on all the latest techniques though as phallo is not in my future for a variety of reasons.  In some cases I believe they bury your little dick so you have sensation at the base.

For me I am satisfied with my little dick.  It has great sensation, I can pee at urinals, and the hole <shudder!> is gone.

Jay, almost 1 yr post meta/vaginectomy/implants

I had both, the complete meta and 1.5yrs after the radial forearm phallo.
I've seen some terrible metas as well as terrible phallos. The techniques are getting better everyday. I've seen some amazing phallo results.
I had both surgeries done in Montreal. My meta results were great and so far my phallo is awesome.
It really depends on what you need. You will never have sex with a meta, and not all guys can use urinals, or pass as a micropenis. But the phallo has huge risks.

I would be definitely interested in knowing more about Dr. Brassard's work. I am likely going to go there for my metoidoplasy since that's basically the place to go in Canada. We've recently been given the ability to choose our surgeon using health insurance funding (I'm in Ontario), so I am also looking out of curiosity to see if there are any other Canadian options.

Might I ask specifically about the huge risks? And is getting both done advantageous?
