Yesterday my psychologist told me he would write me my second letter. Today, I got a call from Dr. Bowers office. As you can see from my new ticker below, I have set the date for my surgery. On March 14, 2012 I will finally be complete after 41 years on this planet in the wrong body. I won't lie, it has cost me a lot and probably will continue to in the future. However, it has also finally brought inner peace into my life. The anger and frustration are gone. I am a happy person now most of the time instead of the depressed shell of a person I was. It was the only thing I could do to survive. I only wish I didn't have to hurt so many to get here.
I really don't know how to feel right now. I feel like smiling and crying and am doing both in turns. I'm stunned into immobility and want to dance. I think that pretty much sums up my transition as a whole. Yet, I finally have that pin in the calendar. That date on the wall to look forward to and to remind me that it is real. It is going to happen. I can't believe it.
On March 14, 2012, my real life begins and the true journey will start.
Thank you for telling us Melody.

From someone else who completely understands what you mean, congratulations! The long night is nearly over, and the beautiful sunrise is almost here.
Melody I am so happy for you. Congrats girl! :)
I don't know if I'm moving particularly fast. By the time I have SRS I will have been on HRT 17 months and full time about 14 months. I think Jerica did it faster if I recall. In any case, thank you all for your support. It has meant a lot to have people who understand along the way in my journey. I hope others can find inspiration in the story of my transition. If I can do it, anyone can. I used to be so scared.
@Colleen, congrats girl! Let us know when the name change is final.
Congrats, Melody! An appointment with an excellent surgeon! From starting hormones with the RLE to SRS was usually at least a year in the 90's and early 00's. A year was common.

I was 15 months for both HRT and RLE at the time of my surgery. With the 12 month SoC RLE requirement of most reputable surgeons, your 14 months is near to about as fast as it can happen. I think K8 did it in 13 months or something.
Congratulations, Mel.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Congratulations, Melody!!
I wish you a great amount of patience, until that time. ;D
WooHoo! That's great news!

Congratulations!
In many ways that is the hardest part, and the easiest part all together. When you are sure you are right, when you find that peace that comes from moving in the right direction, you know it is the only thing to do. I found (and knew before hand) it would not be the answer to every problem. But it was the answer to my main problem; the rest of them are much easier to avoid, address, and fix.

Thanks everyone. I do hope this date sticks. It does require that things fall into place at work. If they don't, I may have to back it up a few months, but for now I'm sticking with this one.
Such lovely news. Do you not wish you could just press fast forward on your remote 4 times?
