A few days ago I tried to do a pull up and I did it with little trouble. Now pull ups have always been my bane because try as I did, I could never complete one.
Now I can do multiple with little trouble and I'm not even training anymore. I pretty much sit on my butt.
Women have it tough. (Though I still take pleasure in this discovery.)
More like a cheat. lol.

I don't mean to be... uptight or anything. But, I felt somewhat offended by that comment.
Otherwise, I find that funny as well. I was off T for a long while, and noticed the changes in muscle mass. It's so weird how very differently women are natural structured based on a hormone in comparison to their male counterparts. There is a weird satisfaction in having the ability to actually pick up and carry your girl over your shoulder like it was nothing.

Same. That comment was made using basically using the same approach as people who tell transsexuals that we are lying by not disclosing our trans status to everyone we meet. In no way is gaining muscle mass through the ingestion of testosterone a "cheat". A medical condition is being treated and this is one of the ways it shows itself.
Meh, you know full well I wasn't intending to insult anyone. But, my apologies nonetheless.

I don't really care what your intent was. I wasn't angling for an apology but was trying to educate you. If you want to be seen as a joke and feed fuel into the fire of transphobia by making remarks such as "it's a cheat" then go right ahead, but I'm going to try to stop it from happening.

Actually I don't really care what people think but thanks anyway.
i guess it evens out. men are basically expected to be the ones to do any heavy lifting or be the physically strong ones while women are simply dismissed for being delicate and not having the strength, therefore it's the man's expected job. consequently, all the domestic work is expected from the woman for the most part.
then, i guess you could say estrogen is unfair since it gives better memory, better sense of smell, better understanding of emotions. i think most of us believe the gender we are transitioning to is better than what we were forced to be.

I'm not really sure what you mean by that? The fact is that trans people are looked down on by many cis people and adding to their hatred of us by agreeing with their statements against us is pretty ->-bleeped-<-ty.

Mostly I'm trying to avoid fighting. Said I was sorry, should have left it at that.
Oh man guys, ease up. XD I guess I'll add in that I wasn't at all offended especially since I took the comment as a joke.

Hmm, then I guess I have not noticed any loss of any of those. Perhaps it is because it's not quite as concrete as an increase in strength.
Though yes, we tend to favor our mental genders. XD

It's passive aggressive comments like this and ignorance with no desire to learn, especially regarding something as serious as GID, that make me more prone to anger and fighting.

Apparently you have more than just GID since you really are picking at it...seriously dude? Getting worked up over everything will get you nowhere in the long run.

I can't agree completely with the offended remark, but with the ease up, I definitely agree with. I think it's silly to get stressed over a simple remark. I don't think the guy is trying to fuel any hatred, nor is he being ignorant. The comment its self just hit a sour string.
I enjoy being strong. The muscle definition makes me feel confident and assured. And well... manly. Like Fullmoon says, it evens out, I suppose. I do, sort of, think male is the better gender. But I am biased. I am a male, but I love women. They can stay women, they can be whatever they want, and I will be me. I like doing dirty work, manual labor jobs. If T helps me do all that, have more energy, actually wear a real smile and be me. Then... I'll cheat for the rest of my life. :]
But it is ignorance to make a transphobic comment and then half-heartedly apologize without actually understanding why what you said is ignorant.

I don't care if you guys want to argue, but this is way out of line. Are you seriously going to imply that he has a mental disorder to insult him? Considering the number of cis people who think our identities are invalid because we're 'disordered', I don't know why you would think this is an okay thing to say. If we could lay off the ableism, it would be appreciated.
Why don't we just call the first remark a misworded/lighthearted joke that went a little wrong, and move on with it. I seriously don't think you should be taking it that seriously. I also don't think you should be labelling it 'transphobic'.
It was a mistake, he said he was sorry, move on. Jeeze.

Testosterone sure has some nice sides to it like the strength. but I'm sure female hormones have nice sides for females too.

agree, some trans people are touch-y, damn.
and to Silver.. totally agree, im not super strong yet, but looking back at how I remember my body chemistry/ muscles/temperature.. female bodied people have it tough, weaker, colder, more fragile
I'm looking forward to getting my testosterone suppressants - if this thread is anything to go by, it'll mean I'll pick less fights ;D. I think we all (including Magickbear) agree that there's no actual cheating involved, and anyway, he was responding to an already jokey thread title - chill :).
Testosterone isn't unfair . Testosterone is awesome!
*Runs off to do 10 pull ups in a row which I can totally do now, OMG!*
Haha, this makes me all excited for being on T, as if I wasn't already!
However you know, is it true women are ACTUALLY weaker or is it that their strengths lie elsewhere?
I can't do a pull up for the life of me, and I work out now, but when I started weight training class in school before any training, I could go up to 400 lbs on the leg press, NONE of my male peers could do that. In fact a few other female friends could lift quite a bit there. And that is long before T, and with no training whatsoever haha. I don't really know much about it but I have heard women tend to have more strength in their legs naturally? Maybe just hearsay (for me it runs in the family I think, my mom and grandma both have a lot of muscle/strength in their legs :] )
I don't really believe men are 'better' but I still am one in mind and hopefully soon body. I highly respect both men and women, and they seem very evenly balanced to me. Where some men typically lack something some women typically seem to gain it, but that doesn't really speak for everyone of course.
It is REALLY cool though, what changes when you go on T, or going on HRT at all, pretty amazing. I probably will really miss some things, but I'm pretty sure whatever they are will be totally taken over by all the changes I'm EPICLY grateful for haha.

i have heard that women have more lower body strength. i've actually mentioned it on here before, but everyone just said "no, men are stronger in all parts of their body." i think women have pretty strong thighs. if you notice women seem to be the best ones at gymnastics, figure skating. those require alot of lower body strength. also, i would also imagine women have their wider hips and strong thighs for pregnancy and childbirth reasons.

yep they do have more lower body strength
Yeah girls do have strong legs. I'm pre-t and I have really strong muscles but my arms are sticks and pretty useless at lifting. I need to work out lol XD
Well I don't know about you guys but since starting T my legs are stronger/more muscular.

Dude who peed in your cheerios?
I don't see what was so offensive about Magickbear's original comment, I kind of feel the same, in a joking way. When you've been trying really hard to build muscle and lose the last extra body fat for a year, with minimal results and could never manage an unassisted chin-up, then after 2 and a half months on T decide out of curiosity to tackle that pull-up bar again and much to your surprise, your feet come off the ground and your eyes are going over that bar, it rather does feel like cheating. If we'd been born in the right bodies we'd have been able to do that, yes. The way I see it, I got cheated out of the right hormones, so Ima 'cheat' right back and do my pull-ups I didn't really work for, ha.
