Hi everyone. I have an appointment with a therapist in a week. I'm a bit intimidated but will do my best. I know HRT therapy is highly unpredictable and specific. I just wanted to know your personal experiences anyone from 30-late 40's . Thi sis not science, but I don't mind hearing individual results and possibility.
So..
Face:
Were there changes in,
Pore size, beard, skin softness, lips, jawline?
Body, Breast growth, sex drive uhm genital shrinkage?
Any other effects...I'd be glad to hear.

It's exceptionally variable, as I'm sure you've read. ;D There are people 20 years older than me who talk about changes that I only dream would happen to me (but aren't). For the record, I started HRT 3 days before my 33rd birthday, but my first three months didn't work (my blood test proved it). So at this point, I've been on a functioning HRT regimen for six months.
Pore size: no change
Beard: Definitely slower growth. The dark clumps after laser hair removal used to grow out in 2 or 3 days, now it's 10 to 11
Skin softness: Some occurred almost immediately and is still changing.
Lips: They look fuller, but in part because I've gained 25 pounds so I could have some weight to work with. :laugh:
Jawline: No change aside from what occurred with weight gain.
Body/breast: Unfortunately, most of the weight I gained went straight to my belly like a male. Breast growth has been nothing to write home about, but that may also be genetics. My mom is really small-chested, but is the only woman in the entire family (including my sister) who is.
Sex drive: Gone at last!
I started HRT after age 50. While pleased with the changes, I sorely miss some you might reasonably expect, starting earlier:
Pore size: With the decreased production of sebum/oil, my facial pores are much cleaner/smaller.
Beard: No change, I've been having electrolysis since November 2010
Skin softness: No change, but my skin was always very soft, thin, and tender.
Lips: No change
Jawline: No change
Body/breast: B-cups after two years, quite a surprise at my age.
Sex drive: Under my control, when I want it, thankfully.
Hello there,
I am 36 been on HRT for 14 months
Pore size : Much smaller and cleaner
Beard : No change except from what Laser has done.
Skin : very soft everywhere, Skin is thinner
Lips: a bit more plump and a more pinkish color.
Jawline: Smoothed out not as angler. Face as a whole is much more feminine.
Body/ Breast : Small a cup still rather sore off and on so there still growing. Fat has redistributed.Thighs have thickened and backside has shaped up nicely and gotten bigger.
Sex/Drive: Like Caith its completely under my control and there when I want it.

I started HRT almost 6 years ago at 35... hard to remember when all these happened, but...
Pore size: Hard to say because, fortunately, I never had a big problem with them
Beard: Definitely slower growth but no reduction in hairs
Skin softness, lips, jawline: I grouped these together for me because I was extremely fortunate to have had pretty dramatic effects to my face
that just got better as time went on. You'll develop a thin layer of fat just below the skin; depending on your face
just that alone might do wonders. My lips (over time) "plumped up;" my top lip, especially got bigger. HRT will not
effect the bone in your jaw but gaining a little weight along with HRT camouflaged my jawline and completely hid
my adam's apple.
Body and breast growth: Upper body build and strength was also a dramatic (and welcome) effect for me but again, this happened over time.
I grew an ass (lol) and gained fat on my thighs. The width of my hips didn't change but my natural waistline moved
up. I certainly would have liked more breast growth (about a b cup) but I'm happy enough with what I've got.
Sex drive: What sex drive? LOL!! Yes, your male sex drive will pretty much go away in time; at about the six month mark of full HRT you
may become permanently sterile. About 2 years in I completely lost erectile function (WOOHOO!!) The result was atrophy;
I never actually measured but I'd guess I lost about 2" in penis length; my testicles were quite literally the size of small grapes
and very soft/non-functional by about the same time. On the plus side, my sexual response has definitely changed; I still enjoy
sex but it's more about being close to someone than gaining satisfaction.... I only noticed the rekindled interest in sex over the
last year or so... much different than what I had experienced before.
Additional: HRT apparently (and I have nothing but anecdotal evidence of this) has an effect on cartilage for SOME. The shape of my nose
changed; narrowed and I (again, over 6 years) lost about one inch in height.
There really are too many effects to list here; just the mental and emotional effects could take up a few pages! HRT will rock your world!!!
Hormones are part of what makes up who you are as a person. The changes do vary from person to person; I hope they have the same,
incredibly positive effect on your life as they did on mine :-)

Thank you all so much for giving me your experiences. It helps quite a bit to hear directly from you. There's a lot to think about... I might have to take other steps along with the HRT then.

I am almost 37 and and i started hrt when i was 35 1/2.
Here are my changes:
Facial hair did not change: laser took care of that
Body hair got much softer and lighter: waxing takes care of this
Skin softness: skin became very soft. Smoothed out a lot of wrinkles
lips: no change
Jawline: no change (HRT will never change bone structure. You need to take hrt before puberty to stop bones from becoming very pronounced)
Body: i got hips and a butt. hands and feet will never change
Breast Growth: Im between c and d cup right now (im on estro and was on spiro)
Sex drive: labido is very controlled. I can turn it on and off. Orgasm is female now.
Shrinkage: um yeah, lotsa of shrinkage lol

Sadly, HRT doesnt take care of Adam's Apples. Adam Apples, from my experiences, is like a 50 50 thing. Some people have em some people don't.
However, if you do have an Adam Apple and feel uncomfortable with it, they have trachea shaves which will take care of that.

What Annah said... hormones won't affect adam's apples. I was one of the lucky ones who never had one, though my dad's is huge.
I started estrogen a week after my 34th birthday. I have been on Antiandrogens for 2 years, and Estrogen for only 2.5 months.
Pore size : Slightly smaller. Face definitely smoother than before starting either AA's or E
Beard : No change. Laser + Electrolysis.
Skin : Softer. MUCH less body hair. Most of it was gone within 1 year of using Avodart alone. Receeding hairline stopped.
Lips: Slightly more plump, but removing the hair on your upper lip does this somewhat as it flattens the skin above the lip. Lips are a little fuller I guess and seem a tiny bit darker. But I don't know for sure, I put lipstick on them every day just about :)
Jawline: Not a whole lot of change yet honestly. Has changed more from my weight loss than the Estrogen. will have to see
Body/ Breast : Avodart and Spironolactone alone gave me a very fleshy chest. About 1 month into Estrogen though I now have buds and tingling all around. I am basically an A cup right now at 5'10" 175lbs
Sex/Drive: Drive itself is nearly completely gone. No more stiffness all night long and in the morning. These days occasionally I'll wake up and things aren't flaccid, but definitely not like before. No waiting to go pee. To be honest even the idea of masturbation now is really debatable. It's like, "do I want to? [2 hours goes by] oh yeah, do I want to? Meh, I donno. I probably should, it's been a few weeks. Meh maybe tomorrow..." But when I do decide to I can still get in the mood.
Mental: Some of the biggest changes for me honestly are mental and perspective. Living as a woman (if you haven't) has changed my perspective. "Being a girl" isn't like I thought it would be. It's normal. It's not like I imagined it would be my entire life as I was jealous of all the girls around me - it's just another way of living. Mentally on HRT you start to notice little things differently, and certainly my emotional layer is MUCH closer to the surface, it's much easier to cry, and to laugh. Being more emotionally available to things changes your perspective a little bit - even though I've not been on E very long.
I started HRT at 59.
I've been on meds for 18 months now.
Pore size: My facial pores are cleaner and just starting to get smaller.
Beard: Grows slower usually takes about 3 days to get a good shadow. I'm elliptic my beard.
Skin softness: Yes it has softened allot.
Lips: No change
Jawline: No change
Body/breast: small B-cups after one years, I was surprised too.
Sex drive: None. There are allot better things to do with my time.
Shrinkage: Have not noticed any except muscles size.
Hair: Much softer.
Body Hair: Before very dark and thick, now it has lighten and is much finer.
I also have never had a showing adams apple.
The effect of HRT vary by person almost as much as by age.

I'm 32 and I'm 4 months, 1 day into my HRT, so here is what I am experiencing.
Pores: I have had acne since I was a teenager and I thought it would never go away. But with HRT it has cleared right up and my skin tone has evened out.
My face shape seems to have rounded out a little and my lips seem to have plumped up, which is great, since I hated my thin lips and wide mouth. Facial hair seems to have slowed a little in growth, and the hairs maybe a little thinner, but not too much difference from when I was not doing HRT.
My skin was pretty soft to begin with so, it just got smoother and a little softer.
I'm seeing breast growth, yes. I was worried that they looked like man-boobs but not anymore, lol. My butt got bigger and rounder. So much so that half of my pants no longer fit. And my belly fat seems to be going somewhere, probably my butt. And I'm starting to get a more hourglass shape to my body. Sex drive... well, I didn't have much of one to begin with. it's all but gone now. Genital shrinkage... I'm not answering that one, just because I feel like that steps too far over the personal boundary line. like asking if your still a guy down there. Sorry.
As for other effects... I have hair growing back in my hairline that I apparently lost.

I started HRT at 43. My pores and my jawline did not change, but my face got softer. I started electro long before HRT so I can't tell for sure what the changes were to facial hair. I have a waist too! Some hair came back to my hairline but not too much...

I started HRT right before my 41st birthday so it's been almost 6 months
Pore size: I guess a little smaller. THey never were that big that I can think of.
Beard: Grows slower but not much.
Skin softness: Only seems softer on my thighs right now.
Lips: Slightly fuller and it appears that the outside edges have darkened some and expanded outward.
Jawline: I have lost weight in my lower face and neck making me look more fem. I get comments so far about looking younger ar loosing lots of weight.
Body/breast: In 6 months my measurement around breast is 4 inches larger than measurement below the breast. It is starting to cause a real problem since I am still a ways from full time.
Sex drive: Much lower. I can still perform but I don't get much out of it and seems like a lot of work for little payoff. Without lots of intimacy it's not worth the effort. Very happy with that!
Shrinkage: Not that I can tell.
Hair: Way less oily and getting longer which is causing me grief with a few people. Amazing how especially the women in your life can make nasty comments about your hair! lol
Body Hair: Before very dark and thick, now it has lighten and is much finer. Almost dissapeared from arms and is quickly fading from entire torso. It's starting to thin on my thighs and maybe growing a little slower and thinner on lower legs. Pubic hair starting to move to female distribution.

As much as many claim that the results are unpredictable all of your experiences are remarkably consistent.
I won't have the option of HRT for a year or so after counseling.
I had this crazy curiosity to buy a bra in the juniors section at s store. It was a 32 a and a bit too tight but wow! I had never worn a bra near my actual size. I finally understood what it few like to have my actual "breasts"
Lifted and supported. I felt so proud yet sad.
So it seems hrt has minimal impact on the face. Is it nuts for me to consider some minor procedures to feminize my face?

I started HRT at 40 I'm 45 now
Pore size on things like my legs changed drastically. My face has changed due to electro in this area. More hair goes the tighter the pores have gottern\
Skin softness over the course of a year changed greatly, bruise much easier and it's more sensitive to the touch
No change to my lips
Jawline seems to have rounded a bit more
Breast growth is to a Full "B" cup
Not a lot of change to hips or butt but now that I'm post I think my hips have started to widen out a bit
Body hair thinned drastically. Very feminine now
Sex drive decreased greatly
Being on HRT for 5 years my gentials shrunk quite a bit.
The first year was horrible for emotional changes lol, I cried a lot for no reason, became very aware of the world around me. Pretty much like being a teenager again
Body odor changed a lot. My wife said I smell sweeter than before
My shoe size has dropped. not sure if this is due to HRT or not but I used to be a 10 and now depending on shoe I'm 9 to 91/2
I've lost 1" of height. I was told HRT has an effect on the disks
My sense of smell seemed to be heightened more. I'm more sensitive in this area.
I never had an issue with balding but I did notice some hair growth in areas women usually get like wisps in the nape of the neck area.
Nails became much more brittle, they used to be strong and now they break easier. I'e been taken biotin and this has helped.
I've lost a lot of strength.

that would depend on the face and how pronounced the features were for which you would contemplate surgery...the only thing I contemplated was a nose job and then decided against it (the thought has continued to cross my mind off and on across the past 20 years though).
