I'm just now filling my name change form out and I'm a bit stuck on this one.
Any ideas?
It really doesn't matter --- it's just a way they get folks who are doing it for fradulent purposes.
I have heard --- common usage - transgender - easier to pronounce - disassoiation from my family - the judge really doesn't care
That's interesting, Sarah7. Does it allow a private name change in Québec too?

I checked "other" and then wrote in "transgender." That was fine for the courts.
I just wrote that I was changing my name to conform to my gender identity. For a fleeting moment I wanted to write about some vast conspiracy between martians and Alaskan salmon, but I understood that the judge might not have a sense of humor about that kind of thing. ;D
My form doesn't have any options to check, so I'm basically expected to come up with my own thing I guess?
Yeah. Mine just says "reason" too. I don't know if this form becomes public record or not. I put "Gender Change".
I just put" Male to female gender transition." Nobody will see it after it's processed.
Karen.
Hi, when I did it I also put "Gender Change." Kim
I put "This name better suits my identity".
