You are looking into the eyes of anti-transgender employment discrimination.
In 2006, I was living the American dream. I was a Senior Vice President of Operations at an auto finance company, overseeing a 22-state operation with almost $1 billion in assets under my authority. I had worked there for six years and was extremely successful.
That same year, I came to terms with the fact that I am transsexual and, at the age of 47, made the decision to finally start living as the person I had been born to be. Immediately after informing my employer of my situation, with no timetable yet planned for my transition, my company asked what it would take to make me quietly go away. Rather than risk termination, I negotiated a settlement deal for my departure and left.
