Stereotypes are out and androgyny is in.

WHEN Paula Sacco was six years old, she put on a top hat, a tie and jacket, drew on a fake moustache and lounged in the doorway of the family home with a cigarette in her mouth. She had the cool swagger of James Dean or Johnny Depp.

Today, she's known as the Johnny Depp of Melbourne.

For the past eight years, Paula has gone by the name Rocco d'Amore. A hairdresser by day, Rocco travels the country, treading the boards on the drag king scene.
