I have only been on T for about a month, at a pretty low dose. I already feel like I am loosing a lot of hair though. I've been noticing when it falls out there is this little white bulb thing at the end.....like when you pull a hair out. I know this means its not breakage, it's falling out from the root....but does that mean it won't ever come back? It seems to be mostly in the front, so maybe this is just the beginning of a more masculine hair line?? It makes me nervous that this is happening this fast. Did anyone go through a "shedding" stage when starting T or is it ALWAYS hair loss?
The best answer to this is to really look at your father, grandfather and possibly Uncles. If they are balding or bald then chances are you may go bald too. If they all have a full head of hair then I would not worry as much about it.
But I have dated 4 transmen since I had transitioned to female and they were all balding. Actually, they really loved it. To be honest, it really didn't look that bad. They shaved their hair very short and grew out a beard. I just remember them being handsome versus being bald.
But the bald issue is something you may have to face. There are always a downside (if you hate baldness) to HRT. For girls, my downside was flabby arms that no amount of exercise can fix and the sad ability to cry at anything (which is extremely embarrassing in a classroom).
Comes with the gender I suppose :)
